I first bought this album because of the catchy tune, "I love you period." I thought it an ok tune, so i bought the cd. I listened to it from the first and its like a pulse-beating-page-turning-book you cant put down. There is not a bad song on this album. I was was forced to chose my least favorite, it would be "I love you period." For the ultimate "LOUD" song crank up "Lost Highway". A great in your face tune relationship song with a twist. Its not about losing your lover, but about the jilted one proclaiming his soon to be freedom with the line, "if you dont think im leaving baby, count the days that im gone!" Obviously one of my favorites on the cd. And "Knocked up" is a great tune. I love the play on words. "Look at what you started", another rockin song to be cranked loud. "Pick up the knive," and "The one i am,". This is, indeed a seriously underestimated album/cd. I purchased cd only after i realized my cassette was becoming worn out. In the styles of the great southern artists, Bocephus, Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels, and others, this is a definate must have album for any party. It will definately get the crowd dancing.

It's funny, I have been reading about this album in record guides lately and discovered I Love You Period was a minor radio hit at the time. I don't remember that at all. I do remember really liking this album when it was released although I focused on one great song that none of the reviewers really comment on: Dixie Beauxderaunt.

Dixie Beauxderaunt is really rocking and Dan Baird tells a hilarious story in it. I have put this one song on dozens of mix tapes over the years that I made for friends. I'll have to go back and rediscover the rest of this album.

This is, ex-Georgia Satellite front man, Dan Baird's first solo attempt. He succeeds very well at it too. His country/rock songs are well-written, foot-taping fun. Baird's strength is in his lyrics. Although the music has good rhythm, it is nothing that really stands out. The music is really the medium in which Baird gets his lyrics across.

He writes from a light-hearted standpoint as can be determined from the title of the album. This is a great sing-along album, as the words are catchy and simple. It's obvious that Baird had fun making this album, and you can hear it come across in his music. Baird's "I Love You Period" is probably the most famous from this album, but there are quite a few gems in here as well. Other winners are "Pick Up the Knife", "The One I Am", and the crass "Knocked Up".

"Love Songs for the Hearing Impaired" is great to pop in the cd player of your car, put the top down (or at least the windows), and take a drive along a winding two-lane country highway. It's not a work of art, but it's good enough you won't even notice.
