A splendid collection of Peg's best-known and little-known Decca gems. Her Decca work sounds different from her Capitol work--Decca was a meat-and-potatoes label, Capitol was more into whipping-topped musical cherries--, but equally worthwhile. Here she's romantic, wistful, engaging, giddy, and all in the space of 14 tracks. The opener, from the classic album "Black Coffee," leaves no doubt this was a jazz singer when she chose to be. Peggy Lee IS a love song for all time.
