One of the 5 best punk rock albums... ever,
By
This review is from: Love Songs for the Retarded (Audio CD)
Love Songs For The Retarded is the best album by the best punk rock band on the planet (after the Ramones, of course). Originally released in 1992 and remastered in 2007, this album is chock full of brilliant pop-punk gems, ranging from fast headbangers ("You're Tripping", "I Can't Stop Farting") to slower (but never slow), more introspective songs ("Granola Head", "Debra Jean"). Singer/songwriter/guitarist Joe Queer has done what few punk songwriters have accomplished: write catchy, memorable songs filled with punk nastiness AND pop hooks. In addition, the songs are even more impressive because they are flavored with the Beach Boys, Beatles and other 50's/60's music influences. And importantly, the songs are presented with a perfect punk sound: distorted buzzsaw guitar, loud & heavy bass and relatively reserved drums (but with primo fills). Really, this album has to be heard to be believed.

may as well be a greatest hits CD,
By J.J. Langr (United States) - See all my reviews

Other bands would kill for having a greatest hits collection this good. This is just one album (albeit probably the best) from a diehard act that's still going strong after gobs of albums (and infinite band replacements to back up Joe Queer). Go to a Queers show and you'll hear just about every one of these songs, including the classic "Granola Head."
So just what are the Queers? Think of the Ramones: take a singer with a somewhat nasal voice, songs with simple but powerful hook-based choruses that you can't forget ("f the world I'm hanging out with you tonight!"), and fast 3-chord guitar downstrums. Buy this and Don't Back Down for the best introduction to the Queers. Give 'em each 3 listens and you'll either still hate 'em or you'll be hooked. I'm hooked, and have picked up everything else since then.

the queers-love songs for the retarded,
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Songs for the Retarded (Audio CD)
The Queers are my favorite pop-punk band and from what i've heard by them, this is their best release. Unbeleivably catchy songs like Ursula finally has tits and teenage bonehead will stick with you for days, whether you like it or not. If you're looking for politics or social commentaries don't look here, this is pure drinkin' an' havin' fun music for those who like to take a break and enjoy themseles every now and then.

Snotty Punk Rock,
This review is from: Love Songs for the Retarded (Audio CD)
This is an awesome album for fans of snotty punk rock. The music is fast and melodic, with great, silly in your face lyrics. For fans of Beat Off this is a must-buy album, while it doesn't have the surfy songs of Beat-Off, the rest of the album is very similar to the punky songs of Beat Off. I recommend this album for fans of Ramones influenced, snotty, silly punk.

"Really, the title DOES says it all",

This is my favorite The Queers album. I first fell in love with The Queers after downloading the song "Punk Rock Confedential" which is also the title of the first album I bought by them. Next I bought "Today EP", then, their awesome cover of "Rocket to Russia" and now I finally own this and it rocks my friggin socks off. This has a good fun feel to it and the lyrics are funny and retarted and most of them happen to be love songs(hense the name). "Granola Head", "I won't be", "Ursala finally...", "I can't stand you", "Hi mom, it's me", and "...This World" are my favorites and that's about half the album so you know it's good. I know you'll do the right thing.

A Classic Pop Punk Release,
By
This review is from: Love Songs for the Retarded (Audio CD)
Love Songs is a classic pop punk release. The Queers and Screeching Weasel were the definition of pop punk in the early to mid 1990s and this disk finds Joe and the rest of the band creating melodic hits. A lot of Ramones with a little Beach Boys mixed in and the songs on this disk are irresistible. If you buy one Queers disk, this is the one you need.
