2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the price...
I bought the book because, quite honestly, I was getting bored with the traditional bodice-ripping romance. I'd never read lesbian romance and I was curious. Was it worth the jacked-up price of $12.00? Absolutely not. First off, you would think that a book that made it to print would have been proof-read. Not this book. There are so many grammatical and...

"Love Spell" is an intoxicatingly romantic story set in a mystical, wooded winter landscape, deep and full of secrets. The home of the alluring, seductive and mysterious Allegra, it nurtures and restores her peace of mind. It is here, on Halloween, that she seeks rescue from her loneliness and isolation, and risks meeting the beautiful veterinarian, Kate Gallegher. It is through Kate, who lives in a small, nearby village, that we get a sense of the pleasures of bonding with nature and animals as she explores the woods, and skillfully and sensitively treats her patients. A lively plot, spare writing, and a sense of humor make this a smart, sexy, and compassionate book as the love story between Allegra and Kate unfurls. Williams, always a thoughtful writer, invites the reader to a tantalizing sexual fantasy, symphonic in its building of a delicious life-like tension. As Kate's and Allegra's worlds cross, and as Kate meets Allegra's friends, the reader is challenged to find each person's inner beauty and common humanity. Touching many themes, "Love Spell" is a vivid, thought-provoking book; an engrossing read for anyone in love...or wishing to be.

This tale of a sexy lesbian witch seducing a lonely vet on Halloween is perfect for curling up with on a cold autumn evening. The characters are interesting and the plot fun. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, September 29, 2003

I loved this book the minute I began reading it. I could not pit this book down. I am a lover of all lesbian novels but this one by far is my favorite. Its about time someone write a book about sci fi lesbian fiction. I never read books twice but for this one I WILL make an exception.

5.0 out of 5 stars Warm Fuzzies, December 1, 2005

I have owned this book for years and read it when I want to escape to a place that is magical and warm. It includes many of the things this lesbian loves; animals, lust/love at first sight, and magic. What a nice place to visit.

4.0 out of 5 stars It could be better !, September 7, 2003
This review is from: Love Spell (Paperback)
Its a fast read and it lead me to lala land. Since I read pretty fast I finished it quick. It wasn't too short or anything like that its just I like how everything is compiled together for an easier read and characters that you can only wonder about. Like the green witch Allegra meeting Kate the vet and how they fell in love on the spot. But my favorite character has to be Gigi (Kate's friend), she just made me laugh on her antics when she knows she was gay at age 6. All in all its weird but good.

There are so many grammatical and typographical errors that it very seriously pulls you out of the story just as you think you can sink into it. Then, there's the fact that the book is so short that there's really no time to fall in love with the characters, nevermind them falling in love with each other. However, I think Karen Williams is a fine author with some grand potential. I just think she'd do much better to put some meat and guts into her stories, expand upon her ideas and give the reader the ability to fall into the storyline. She definitely needs a new editor/proof-reader! Do I recommend this book? No. Would I like to see Ms. Williams go mainstream with an epic novel? Absolutely.

I hated this book! It wasn't even worth 1 star. It took everything out of me to finish the book. The author is wordy and not funny. The story line wasn't even worth while. I've read some serious sci fi books in my time, and this author doesn't have a clue how to even start. I'm deffiantly not reading another book of hers even if someone gave it to me for free.
