5.0 out of 5 stars Blown Away!
Last week I purchased both of Rashaan's CD's. It took me a while to get to "Love In Stero" because I couldn't stop listening to his first CD. (see review by GeminiRising on AMAZON.COM/ Rashaan Patterson)

I am floored by this CD. It's a powerful piece of work. Cuts like "Sure Boy" and "The Day" have inspired me thoroughly. "Treat...

3.0 out of 5 stars OK, SO I GOT SPOILED!
Sue me. My expectations were high after his debut and that's unfair to this cat.

I liked it it though. I vibed it. I bumped it. Still do. Is he still the best kept secret in neo soul? YOU BET YOUR SWEET CD CHANGER HE IS! I liked when he paid respect to sistas with 'TREAT YOU LIKE A QUEEN'. Nice. 'IT'S ALRIGHT NOW' sounds like a cut from Chante Moore. 'FRIEND OF MINE' is...

"Treat You Like A Queen" has an excellent message! I haven't listened to anyone else but Rashaan Patterson in the last 5 days.

For folks that love to pump it up in the car...."The Moment" will get you to work, and back home without a single horn blow-you'll be too busy enjoying the music! (Thank God for Bose Speakers...lol.)

For those of us old enough to know about "The Bop" and "Steppin" (Time honored dance steps made famous in Philadelphia and Chicago), "So Right" will make you want to grab someone and head for the floor!

"Any Other Love" (the backround vocals) is reminiscent of Prince's early days. "Get Here" is a funky Patrice Rushen-esque groove, but don't be mislead, it's Rashaan that you hear.

Again, I can't explain why this CD, and his first for that matter, haven't received more attention or been played on the air-waves.

ONE WOMAN'S ADVICE: If you love REAL music, REAL vocals, REAL artistic ability, if your tired of spending money on junk, and you haven't done so, BUY BOTH CD's 2 DAY! -RIGHT NOW! Consider them as an investment that will pay off everytime you play them. If you love music as I do, you'll hear something new every time you slide them on.

If I sound over-zealous about this music..it is my intention to do so. It is time to stop accepting mediocrity as an artform. Buy both of Rashaan Patterson's CD's and let your voice be heard.

Pure soul for the new millenium. RaShaan should win a Grammy for this effort, but since his music isn't pop-oriented or laced with profanity, rap, and overt sexuality, he'll just have to settle for those of us who appreciate uncompromising R&B. I don't have a favorite cut; I can listen to this record without skipping a track, easily. Congrats Rashaan, you've outdone yourself and most of the "R&B" guys already out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most Slept On - Hands Down!!!, November 26, 2001

It is funny that I once saw Rahsaan Patterson opening for Meshell Ndegeocello at the Metro in Chicago, because these are two of the most slept on artist in the music industry. "Love In Stereo" is one of the greatest albums I have heard in who knows how long. Rahsaan is an exceptionally talented singer, songwriter, and performer. I've been spreading the word on this brother since his debut album and have not stopped. I just cannot believe all the nodding that's going on out there. Everyone that I play this album for falls in love with it. I have hooked so many heads to Rahsaan and will continue to. It just doesn't get any better than Mr. Patterson. The vocals, instrumentation, production, everything is TIGHT!!! You must purchase this CD as well as his first one. Also get your hands on his cover of the Crusaders' classic "Streetlife" from the "Hoodlum" soundtrack and "So Hot" from the "Two Can Play That Game" soundtrack. Rahsaan is the hit that won't quit.

4.0 out of 5 stars BAD MAN!- WORSE PROMOTION!, September 13, 2001

This review is from: Love in Stereo (Audio CD)
Since his first album, I have enjoyed this soulful young brutha!
I can't tell you how many times I listened to "Treat Her Like A Queen" after I played it the first time. It is infectious and just a groove. If you like soul music and artist who can truly SANG (NOT SING, BUT SANG) this and his first one are ones to get. I saw him in concert 3 times and was floored by his talent. Now his record company is slipping. Neither of his albums received much airplay. They are not getting his stuff out there enough. He should be on the radio more and promoted and marketed much, much, much more. Essentially he should be more well known for his talent and music than some other artist who are not as talented and whose record companies promote them to the hilt!

5.0 out of 5 stars Da Bomb!!!, December 21, 2005
This review is from: Love in Stereo (Audio CD)
I'll have to admit, I really didn't get into Rahsaan Patterson until about a year ago when a friend of mine recommended him to me. He burned me a copy of Love in Stereo and I let it sit for about 6 months before I listened to it. Man, did I feel like a fool when I finally got around to it!! That CD was so hot that I had to buy the actual CD to see the credits. So of course, when I heard After Hours was out, I bought it immediately!! I just purchased the first project a few months ago, so I have a hard time saying which of the CD's have a favorite pick. I have to say though, Love In Stereo is still my favorite because it was the first one I bought. He is a rare threat in the industry, being a writer and singer. I love the fact that he is a REAL artist, and that I can really get into his artistry. Thanks, Rahsaan, for not selling out!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love in Stereo, September 30, 2004

I was floored by this cd and angry that I had heard NOTHING about this talented man until I was checking out cds on Amazon and saw so many positive comments about his music.

I finally bought both his first cd and this one (haven't gotten to the first one since this one is in continuous play) but I can't understand how the music industry hypes non-talented pretty boys/girls who scream well while creating absolutely no buzz about truly talented soulful singers.

I'm not trying to influence anybody but if you like r&b/soul music, you must have this disc in your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars damn right., November 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Love in Stereo (Audio CD)
rahsaan is the future of soul music. not r&b, not hip hop, not pop, SOUL, that which comes from deep inside. those bump and grinders who just wanna sex you could learn a trick or two from this MAN. equal parts chaka khan, stevie wonder, and donny hathaway, rahsaan teases, caresses, and cajoles without being vulgar or condescending. It Ain't Love is Patrice Rushen testifyin', Sure Boy is Sly Stone with a touch of Stevie, Friend of Mine could have been on any Minnie Riperton lp (dating myself here). The point is that Rahsaan's tunes are fresh and new but keep the connection to soul's forebears intact. hurry and get this cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Travesty That This CD and This Artist Is Virtually Ignored!!, February 9, 2006
This review is from: Love in Stereo (Audio CD)
Rahsaan Patterson is a great talent who has
released 3 great albums of material since 1997..
but this one, to my ear, is the best so far!
It's a shame that only a small few really know
about this guy who can write, arrange, produce,
play multiple instruments and sing his natural
you-know-what off!
He has a lot of Chaka Khan in his phrasing
and he has an unusally high voice for a man
to some people and most of black radio will
only play a select few of his cuts late at night....
what a waste!
The highlights of this CD are "It's Alright Now",
"Sure Boy", "The Day", "Do You Feel The Way I Do",
& "So Right"...Man, this CD is nice!...Trust!

I hate that he was dropped from his deal with
MCA/Universal last year and had to release his
latest "After Hours" on a european indie
that has little or no distibution so once again,
like this great album, he gets no love from
mainstream radio, video, etc.

Rahsaan and Jon B. are the most overlooked
talents in urban music today!
