Editorial Reviews

Love is a many splintered thing, or so Seth Winnick ("3rd Rock from the Sun's" French Stewart) soonlearns when he gets involved with the beautiful Chelsea Turner (Bridgette Wilson). She seems like the perfect woman: sexy, fun and willing to please him any way she can. But Chelsea's biological clock is on overdrive and she aims to trap Seth into marriage. When their tumultuous relationship gets downright psychotic, it's clear that the pair will never walk down the aisle, or will they? The battle of the sexes that ensues will leave you guessing, but either way it'll be a fight to the finish. With hilarious over-the-top performances, including supermodel Tyra Banks and MTV's Bill Billamy as the couple's happily married friends, this un-romantic comedy makes Fatal Attraction seem like Bambi.

This feature just has that campy, date flick style written all over it. Two people joined in the institution of dating take a severe turn into disaster when one is ready for marriage immediately and the other is just getting started. The entire film takes a lot of silly twists and turns into a very comical ending that just sends it over the top. Good movie for a couple thinking of getting engaged or divorced!

This one caught me by surprise. I've always wanted to see Stewart French in movie and caught this on the satellite one night. I laughed till I cried. I watched it 2 more times that night and then I went online with Amazon and bought the DVD!
Bridgette Wilson and Stewart French do a great job with this underrated dose of comedy! Everyone I've shown this movie to agrees that it has extraordinary "entertainment value"! I have discovered one thing however... it is not to be viewed by everyone. Just a warning - DO NOT show this movie to a couple about to get married!! OOOHHH yeah... The movie watching "comfort zone" can become a little tense if you do!
This was a great movie that I would recommend to all of you with a true "funny bone"! A sense of humor and an open mind about relationships is required when watching this one!

I'm glad to see that a majority of people that saw this movie loved it. I thought I was going crazy for a second. I happened to see this movie by accident while flipping through the many cable channels I have. It starts off as your typical charming romantic flick (nothing special). But then, the relationship between French Stewart and Bridget Wilson starts to take a turn for the worst and that's when the dark comedic stylings of French Stewart comes out. You have to be impressed with a movie that starts light and by the time you see the ending...have you literally crying with laughter. I loved the one liners and there was great delivery on the toilet humor. If you have ever had a relationship with a woman that has 1/10th of the pyschoses that Bridget Wilson's character has in this movie, RENT IT and prepare to have a good time (matter of fact, just buy it for your collection). But if you're into comedies starring Meryl Streep and Catherine Hepburn, in the immortal words of French Stewart, "Back to Hell Demon, Back to Hell!!!"

One of the funniest movies in the 90's! Genuinely funny... not stupid or gross, but actually intelligently done. Great fun for anyone who's ever had a relationship gone bad. Hilarious performances by French Stewart and Bridgette Wilson (Sampras). Also features Tyra Banks and Bill Bellamy. This movie can be enjoyed by men and women alike, although fellow women may feel it gives women a bad name (all in fun, however!). :) You can't take it too seriously... but it's so much fun!

Hot to tell if your girl friend is psycho. If she fits the mold of Brigette Wilson, run for the hills. This movie was a downright laugh riot. I know a few women that did not find this movie funny. At the same time I noticed that psycho look in their eye. Must have hit a sore spot with them. It was nice to see a refreshing comedy like this concidering all the teenie-bopper love comedies and old-fogie love stories (like Richard Gere). Finally a love story for the people between 19 and 40! The commentary is enjoyable as well with Stewart, Wilson and the Writer/Director, is funny as well. This is not just a comedy, it is a warning sign to men everywhere!

I saw this movie recently during my trip to Europe. My girlfriend bought it for me for Valentines Day & I can honestly say that I was reluctant to watch it. French Stewart as a leading man? Come on! He was typecast in my mind as the oddball alien Harry from 3rd Rock From the Sun. As to not look a gift horse in the mouth, we popped in the DVD & the story began. The opening scene in the airplane lavatory between Larry & Seth I thought was kind of cheesy, but when the actual movie began I was pleasantly surprised. (Keep in mind that I went into this thing with the lowest of expectations) Surprisingly enough, I found it quite hilarious. Bridgette Wilson as Chelsea Turner did a wonderful job of playing Seth's psychopathic girlfriend. Things seemed great at first but as the synopsis on the back of the DVD case reads, "Her biological clock is in overdrive & she aims to trap Seth into marriage." French's facial expressions, one liners & monologue whispered under his breath during Chelsea's tantrums were priceless.
Steve Hytner as Marty was hilarious as Seth's desperate, lowlife, loser Agent. Without giving anything away, here's an excerpt from "Date Night."
Seth: She doesn't even like you. She's just using you to get back at me.
Marty: I have no problem with this.
Seth: She's a bloodsucking inhuman creature of the night... Spawned from Satan's seed.
Marty: Yeah, once again, not a problem.
Seth: By the way Marty, when she gets into your pants she's just looking for your wallet. Playing with your ... is just to distract you.
Marty: Works for me.
This movie is definitely worth a look-see. It is one of those flicks that you won't watch once & store it on your shelf as a dust collector or coaster. I give it 4 stars only because of the cheesy narrated approach they took in the beginning. I must say though, it ended up working out perfectly in the end (Which was a GREAT ending I might add.) Enjoy!
