FOR LOVE OF TEDDY is a well written story of contemporary brothers who accidentally get involved with a drug dealer and how each attempts to save the other from possible dire results. Its a fast moving and fun to read story, about two sympathetic boys and their mother.

For Love Of Teddy Review,
This review is from: For Love of Teddy (Paperback)
For Love of Teddy is the story of two brothers, Michael and Teddy. When Teddy was young, he had an unfortunate accident that left them with a mental disability. Michael, the school's star basketball player blames himself for Teddy's problem. When the town drug dealer, Leo, tries to use Teddy to get Michael to deal for him, Michael becomes enraged. He will stop at nothing to shield his brother from a lifestyle he disagrees with.
This is a heartwarming read about brotherly love. I think this book would be wonderful for teenagers and a D.A.R.E. program.

For the Love of Teddy,

This is a book that should be read and discussed by the whole family. The dangers of drugs are taught by parents and in the schools, but children will be able to identify with both Michael and Teddy as realistic examples of two kids struggling to do the right thing, while weighing their options and consequences. This book should be read by families as they teach their children not only about the dangers of drugs, but about working through some of life's tougher problems and accepting there can be undesired consequences even when you are doing the right thing.

Great book on a tough topic,

As a school social worker who works with children and teens, I try out books of all kinds that might speak to kids. 'For Love of Teddy' is a terrific choice for anyone who wants to broach the topic of drug use and the importance of making good choices with preteens and teens. It could be used with a classroom group or at home with your own children. The subject matter is serious, but the author approaches it in a realistic, but not overly graphic manner. Moreover, the language is engaging without resorting to crassness or vulgarity. I envision using this book with my own children when they begin junior high.
