My Poop Floweth Over,
By john k straitiff (Reynoldsville, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love Thine Enemas & Heal Thyself (Paperback)
After a rather furious bout with constipation, at wits end I began grabbing any resource to aid me with this restricted flow problem. An angel must have heard my prayers and delivered this shrine of knowledge to me. The illustrations and step-by-step nature of this work are what made it far superior to others of its ilk. The only caveat I would deign to mention would be the rather addictive nature of the enema process.

Well Written, High in Information,
By "mr_bits" (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews

I wish that there was more info available before purchasing this book. I will say, I just love it when I can find a good book about washing out ones bowels whilst using old english references such as thine and thyself. Wherefore art thou enema bag? Wilst thou cleanse so deep that thine inner-child shall become immaculate once again. I shant refrain from thy love begat from healing my inner bowels and maintaining a sanitary baloon knot. Who amongst thee has experienced the dismay of a brown asterisk on thy undergarments, thus interrupting a midsummer night's dream? Fear not, Love thine and dare...to heal thyself.

Comprehensive Book On Enema Therapy,
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Thine Enemas & Heal Thyself (Paperback)
Having researched the subject of enema and colonic therapy for many years, I have found that down through the ages there have been many articles, books, chapters, and comments written on the subjects of enema and colonic therapies, and this includes many writings during the century just ended. Most of these writings do a good job on the subject, especially on the mechanical and physical health aspects. But none cover all aspects like Knox does. He includes the additional and important aspects such as: The Psychology, The Pleasure, The Spiritual, and even Politcal aspects. To be truly informed about the subject,"Love Thine Enemas & Heal Thyself" is a must read. It informs the interested and open minded, and especially the user of enema and colonic therapies. (Some users feel some guilt or embarassment because the therapy often is accompanied by pleasant feelings. Although this book is primarily about the health aspects, after reading it, the reader will understand why a properly given enema/colonic can result in pleasure as well. The reader will realize that when this therapy is appropriately used, and properly given, one should not feel guilty over such feelings. This has to be "the comprehensive bible" on general enema and colonic use by a man with extensive clinical experience!) This is an opinion by a writer-novelist/researcher on the subject.

An A -Z Reference Book On All Aspects of Enema & Colonic Use,
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Thine Enemas & Heal Thyself: 5th Ed. (Hardcover)
Dr. Knox is a more recent day writer on the subjects of enema and professional colonic irrigation therapies. I believe in good care of my body via good nutrition, excercise, living a reasonable lifestyle, plus good alternative and self care to complement todays traditional medicine. This includes good bowel care with the aid of periodic enema/colonic use. Knox joins a long list of notable medical and non-medical authors that have written about some or all of these subjects of interest to me (Such as: Robert Gray, nurtrition counselor, Dr. Bernard Jensen, Dr. Norman Walker, Sandra Duggan, R.N., and Herbert Shelton, ND who writes on the Naturapathic teachings of Doctors Jennings, Graham, Trall, and Tilden.). In addition to discussing enema/colonic therapies from A to Z, Knox covers some aspects that I have never seen discussed in any detail prior to "Love Thine Enemas And Heal Thyself." These are the emotional and pleasurable aspects that some find go along with the use of properly given enemas. He explains why some people find enemas pleasurable as a side benefit, something that sometimes confuses the person who takes enemas for general health and illness purposes, or even on a religious basis based upon the ancient Essene Gospel of Peace, Book I. I know I experienced a period of confusion. After reading his book, I realized that I was not alone in that aspect of my enema use, and realized that a properly given enema should feel good during and after. He teaches, in effect, that the pleasurable aspect experienced by some need not be disassociated with health! His book helped me not only to accept what I think is healthy for me with judicial and appropriate use for my specific body, but to accept the pleasure and healthy feelings that result. I would guess that enemas and colonics are not for everyone, with some even contraindicated, but for those like me, "Love Thine Enemas and Heal Thyself" is a treasured addition to my knowledge on the subjects, for which I thank Dr. Knox. Although the enema and colonic therapies are not as fashionable as they were fifty years ago (although appears to be on the comeback), everyone that believes in them, or interested in investigating the aspects of such use, will find the book among those to be referred to for full understanding, in addition to counsel from a trusted health care professional.

the truth about this book,
By Dr. Jerry G Knox, BA, DC, Chiropractic physcian (vancouver, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love Thine Enemas & Heal Thyself: 5th Ed. (Paperback)
I am Dr. Jerry G Knox BA, DC, the author of this book. I am a licensed chiropractic physician with more than 24 years of clinical practice, most of this time offering colonic irrigation, barium enemas and other colon work. This book and all the other free offerings I have put up on line are based on these 24 years of practice and 11 years of fully accredited college and university education in the sciences. This book is a book intended to help others understand their feelings, and know that they are worthwhile people. It was not written for profit. it was written to help others! If you have any questions about the book, you have two chapters from it as well as articles on health issues such as candida, irritable bowel sydrome, constipation, cancer, child birth and colds and flu that can improve peoples lives but are not based on making money for doctors or pill pushing companies. All this is on the web at http://www.lifeknox.com I know I am constantly attacked by those that hide behind false names, and lie about my credentientals and work to help humanity. The difference here is that almost all my work is online and published for you to see without any charge. Please judge for yourself as to the worth of it. One of those detractors claims that my work is even blasphemous! There is nothing in any writing I have ever done on line, in books or articles or anywhere else that teaches any concept other than that of God is Love! and that God loves and cares for all of humanity. I have deliberately reviewed every word in the book to be sure that it is acceptable to all the major religious faiths, and just to those that care for others as fundamental belief system. If that is blasphemous, then what does that person think of the love of Christ, and his teachings of love? My work is based on experience and science, not advocating any church, mosque or synagogue, but seeks to support people in what ever faith they espouse. thank you Dr Jerry G. Self-Published Drivel by Delusional "Author",
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Thine Enemas & Heal Thyself: 5th Ed. (Hardcover)
Dr. Jerry Glenn Knox, B.A., D.C., retains his degrees but is no longer licensed to practice chiropractic medicine. His "expert" book is the presentation of his own opinions and anecdotal "evidence" backed by no research whatsoever. Those opinions contradict both current medical and chiropractic thinking. Of course there's room for all opinions, but without basis in fact, what good are they? The book is the product of a "vanity press," meaning that those in the business of publishing books about health for either the medical community or the public did not purchase and print it. Knox has paid for its printing five times now--that "5th Edition" is hardly a ringing endorsement. Here's why real publishers won't touch Knox's book: Knox advocates frequent enemas for children for constipation, in direct contradiction to current pediatric advice which notes that such invasive and quasi-sexual contact can and has resulted in lifelong damage to sexual function. Modern pediatricians also note that in childhood constipation, the results are much more positive and long-term when one treats the causes (diet, exercise, etc.) rather than the symptom. Knox also advocates across-the-board four-quart--yes, a gallon!--enemas for women in labor. (Even wonder why women giving birth are not permitted to carry weapons?) Obstetricians no longer feel the enema is a necessary part of preparation for normal vaginal delivery. They agree that such a large quantity is certain to increase discomfort--enormously!--and has the potential for injury. After reading Knox's rants in chats and forums online for many years (he's unavoidable, hawking his book and recalling enemas he has administered), one can only conclude that not only does this man have a mission or two (enemas for everybody--and sell that book!) but that he is sometimes in a delusional state about others trying to harm him and the presence of conspiracies to kill those who share his opinions. He refuses to seek treatment despite the online pleas of others. Whether one enjoys enemas for sexual stimulation or feels they offer health benefits, this book will add nothing to your knowledge.

QUACKERY, PURE AND SIMPLE,
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Thine Enemas & Heal Thyself: 5th Ed. (Hardcover)
Just another vote to agree with the other unfavorable reviewer. The author of this compendium of quackery is well known in the on-line enema-interest community. He has constantly invaded chatrooms and message boards, where I have personally caught him misusing and misspelling medical terms, as he promoted this book of pseudoscience. If a layman can catch that, how is he qualified as a "physician" (as he terms himself)? I cannot see how anyone with such thin knowledge would dare to set himself up as an "expert," but this "author" has proven himself a legend in his own mind. The book also has a number of religious ideas as loopy as his medical beliefs. Need I add that his knowledge of theology is matched only by his medical "expertise"? I would be more specific, but the more interesting bits seem actually blasphemous to me, and might well offend many others. Suffice it to say that the author is happy to fill us in on those Biblical sidelights about enemas that somehow got left out of the Bible. One last point here. I notice that the customer reviews average as rather favorable, which is what moved me to add my two bits. The very first review by "Sharon" is (SURPRISE) written by the author himself. "Sister Sharon" is one of the female characters he uses for supportive posting about himself. "She" is the author of several drearily boring stories on "her" website, which, oddly is rife with links to Knox's website! I would therefore be suspicious of any overly sycophantic review here.

Mindless Ranting,
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Thine Enemas & Heal Thyself (Paperback)
This book is written in the same style that Jerry Knox rants on message boards accross the nation. His book reads just like his website, all the content filling up your screen contained on one page that scrolls and scrolls forever. He may have some information that is correct, but his contradictions and mindless chatter make reading this book, a chore.

professional well written book,
By Rabbi Jacob Cohen (New York, New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love Thine Enemas & Heal Thyself: 5th Ed. (Paperback)
THE book for those with interest in enemas. Covers the psychological, sexual, political and spiritual aspects of enemas and colonic irrigations, and is the only book to do so. Has an insightful chapter on a two week wedding ceremony, that could be the model for a new way of looking at entering marriage!I found this book facinating, good reading. I do not see any conflict with any major religion in the conceptualization or presentation of this book. Highly recommended! Rabbi Jacob Cohen |
