5.0 out of 5 stars I Thinketh another great disc
Peter has done it again! It is so rare to find an artist where you can buy the disc totally unheard and love every song. Peter has been this way since a bought Pop City when he was known as Sussman Lawerence. He is a much underrated artist, the only one I have to see every time he comes into town.

2.0 out of 5 stars This isn't gonna be easy...
First of all, who is Jerry McCulley (the person who wrote the amazon review right above this) and where does he get his (mis)information? He states that this is Peter's first album of new songs (not counting "My Best Friend...")since 1992's "Flown This Acid World". Au contraire. Jerry seems to forget (as well as amazon, because they don't offer)...

5.0 out of 5 stars The best songwriter in America is at it again!, March 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Thinketh No Evil (Audio CD)
This latest by Himmelman is one of his best and that by no means is an easy task for him to accomplish. His lyrics are unparallelled by any writer today. That's not hype; it's simply the truth. Given the fact that he can write about "real" elements of life and human nature and have the same songs backed by a powerful array of melody is an incredible accomplishment. His musical style varies from song to song, yet his passion for truth and love is uncompromising. If you have yet to hear his music, don't wait any longer. While you're at it buy "Strength to Strength" (the best CD every made), and "Flown This Acid World."

Every customer at Amazon.com knows the line "people who bought....". When I saw this line when buying Mike Scott I thought never heard of that Peter Himmelman. After then I thought: Why have I never heard before of this realy realy great artist. I think I gona support this man in Holland by sending e-mail to the radio stations. Knowing in the U.S. he is not well know, but worldwide the man needs support because of his great songwriting

4.0 out of 5 stars Well worth a listen, March 11, 1999

Bob Dylan's son-in-law and one of the most underrated singer-songwriters around. Himmelman writes the most intelligent and uniquely original love songs as illustrated in the song 7 Circles on this CD(another example is "Love of Midnight" on the From Strength to Strength CD). There are several radio friendly songs on here, but it is definately not ear candy. He can be tender and he can flat out rock. "Eyeball" and "Million Miles Wide are perfect examples. You will definately not be dissapointed in this selection. The above mentioned ...Strength... CD is Peter Himmelman at his best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not live but an Improv'd Trip Hop Jive, March 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Thinketh No Evil (Audio CD)
Peter Himmelman's live performance at the Buttom Line last week introduced me to the wonderful world of, the band's pseudo name, 'cattle of fish'. I was fortunate enough to be introduced to him at a Shabbos table, and personally mystified by his singing of "Time Just flew" at an accoustic session the following day. The man is an unknown legend, seeking redemption. Perhaps his latest band will fit the bill, with Chris V., the drummer form Nine Inch nails elevating Peter's Geula jamming to a scratch above the rest. Well worth the investment, knowing that the lyrics can change your outlook of life. Throw out the references to Bob Dylan, Peter has his own stone to roll, and is rolling it to the high heavens. The power of his song writing genius is that the subject of the songs is never quite what you think it is, and what you deem it to be could not match Peter's words on a mystical level. Himmelfans rejoice at the coming of the musical...This musician has the promise of talent, and this latest album, can sell it. Fans of his improv art, should request the hit single 'Man from Georgia' on his 1999 tour:-)

Fan from Crown Heights, NY

5.0 out of 5 stars GRAVITY WON'T KEEP THIS MUSIC DOWN, February 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Thinketh No Evil (Audio CD)
Musically, this new recording by Peter Himmelman may initially put off some longtime fans as it is more adventureous and dark than his previous recording. But with repeated listenings, there can be no doubt that it is his most rewarding. The songs grow with repeated listening and through the dark lyrics, one can taste redemption. Peter's singing has never been better (just listening to him sing "I want to wash my sins away!" in Checkmate is worth the price of the cd).

First of all, who is Jerry McCulley (the person who wrote the amazon review right above this) and where does he get his (mis)information? He states that this is Peter's first album of new songs (not counting "My Best Friend...")since 1992's "Flown This Acid World". Au contraire. Jerry seems to forget (as well as amazon, because they don't offer) "Skin", Peter's 1994 concept album, that, while not everyone's cup of tea, is a much stronger album than this. As a matter of fact, and I consider myself a strong Peter Himmelman fan, everything in his catalogue, with the exception of the "Salamander" album, is stronger than this. I was disappointed the first time I heard this, and I've yet to change my mind. See my review of "From Strength To Strength" to gauge my reaction to this man's music. This just plain leaves me cold and dead in the water. Perhaps these songs interpret well live, but they do nothing for me on record. Having met him on a number of occasions, I can attest that Peter Himmelman is a great guy, a wonderful songwriter, and a hoot to party with. And don't let anyone tell you his concerts are anything but parties. Unfortunately, LTNE is a step in the wrong direction,in my opinion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Learn to Love this Disc, January 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Thinketh No Evil (Audio CD)
As with his previous album "Skin", Peter Himmelman has a knack of surrounding songs that are intially hard to digest with bonefide gems such as "Eyeball", "7 Circles", and "Lifetime Too Late". Although it may take some time, you eventually have an entire album of favorites.

4.0 out of 5 stars When well this guy finally make it big!?!?!?, January 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Thinketh No Evil (Audio CD)
Short and sweet, Peter Himmelman is the greatest musician never to make it "bigtime". Bottom line is, this guy is a true artist and should be seen where ever and whenever he performs. Hey Pete, the 'Himmelheads' love you!! "LoveThinketh No Evil" only reiterates these points.

Peter's ability to sculpt common experience into 4 min. audio delights is what music should be all about- making a connection with yourself and reality.
