5.0 out of 5 stars My kids love this video
My 2.5 year old twin boys love this video and all the others in the series. These videos would be guaranteed to keep their attention for at least 30 minutes.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware
These videos are practically identical to the "Toy Trains and Big Trains" series. They contain the exact same shots, but in different order. I felt ripped off when I purchased one of each, and got the same poor quality, bad editing, and scene after scene of the same train at different angles. I've also seen volumes 2 and 3, and they are almost identical to...

4.0 out of 5 stars My son loves toy trains!, July 6, 2001
This review is from: I Love Toy Trains, Part 1 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
.... But my boys love it and watch it again and again, and it is a welcome break from watching the Thomas the Tank engine videos again and again. My boys are 3 and 1, and will watch this over and over, and tell other people the silly jokes, and laugh and laugh. There are lots of crashes and right after them, the guy says "oh no!" and now anytime something happens at home, we say "oh no" in the same silly voice, and the boys fall over laughing....we know the jokes are stupid, but they appeal to very young kids, and they are simple enough that they can repeat them and get a kick out of being able to tell a joke. Did you know that a cow's favorite singer is MooDonna? Look at this video with the eyes of a 3 year old, and you will enjoy it too.

My 22- month old vehicle-obsessed triplet boys are thoroughly entertained by this video. They have been watching for a couple of months now (as well as I Love Toy Trains- parts 2 & 3) and though it does get a bit dull or repetitious for me, they continue to enjoy it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ugh. Buy Volume 2-much more enjoyable, June 26, 2001
This review is from: I Love Toy Trains, Part 1 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I couldn't stand volume 1--Lots of hokey songs, choppy flow from one scene to another. Mushy sound, hard to understand. Too much silly model stuff. Not enough trains. We really like volume 2--much more professional, good music, my son loves it. I don't know that I would buy a whole series of these though.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love Toy Trains 11, April 12, 2002

This is the 11th in a series of videos called "I Love Toy Trains" and I think it is the best yet! Jeff, who has been around since the first video has grown with each one and does a great job of being the M.C. He does magic tricks, talks about the Maui Ocean Center and shows a great deal of knowledge about the toy trains featured in the video. There are still the jokes and a puppet for extra entertainment, even flying saucers and aliens are included in the fun! Great addition to the I Love Toy Train series.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Whole Series is Made with Love, April 4, 2000

There's a reason why this humble video was expanded into a series of six, plus. It's not just great for kids, but fascinating for adults too. You may not be a model train enthusiast now, but watch these videos and you just may find yourself a new convert. I never dreamed there were so many beautiful and diverse kinds of toy trains. To see the pristine-condition shiny silver tin "Mayflower," and others from the 1920s are a rare treat. These videos were obviously made with love. And don't forget the especially neat "I Love Big Machines," by the same maker.

1.0 out of 5 stars yuk, March 13, 2000

Two things especially bother me about this video. One is they show toy missiles destroying train cars. The second is they stage a head-on crash between two trains. What's funny about that? Not only is it unnecessarily destructive, but then is presented as ENTERTAINMENT. Just great. My son first saw this video when he was two and burst into tears when the trains crashed (my fault - I should have previewed the tape first but what with the glowing reviews on the box I thought it harmless). I happen to have it out of the library now (hoped it was NOT the one I had seen before but was wrong) and am still totally unimpressed.

I can't speak for the other "I Love Toy Trains" videos by this same producer, but this one I can happily live without.

The only reasons I gave it one star is for the songs (except Old MacDonald, which is overdone) and the explanation of a saw mill.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Masterpiece of Absolute Dullness, August 8, 2000

Let me guess...this video was shot in some guy's farm basement in about three weeks, right?

You have a bunch of film of a toy train collection, with sound overlays of real train sounds, children singing "Old MacDonald" at least 5 times, farm animals that talk and tell jokes right out of the world's worst dime-store joke book--what this has to do with trains is anybody's guess--a few actual shots of real trains (maybe a minute, 30 seconds altogether), a toy train collection that appears again, and again ad nauseam, phd graduate actors from the university of bad acting, etc., etc., etc.

I've seen dental hygene movies that were more entertaining! I watched it with my 4-year old, and found my eyes locked to the elapsed time display on my VCR thinking, "How much longer until it's over! How much longer!"

I can't believe I bought this, but I guess it's recyclable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun for kids 2 to 102, January 29, 2000
This review is from: I Love Toy Trains, Part 1 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video is great fun for Kids of all ages. More than just toy trains. It contains a great mix of toy trains, real trains, corny farm animal jokes, farm video, and great train songs. Songs include I've Been working on the rail road, wabash cannon ball, Dianah won't you blow your horn, and more. Great fun for all children and toy train fans.
