Editorial Reviews

2009 debut album from the singer/songwriter. Sitting next to Angel Taylor, her charisma is as palpable as her music itself. Talking with her about the passionate swirl of her debut release, Love Travels, she is quick to share stories about her inspirations, but those stories fast become secondary to the true magic of her talent as a songwriter: The 12 tracks on Love Travels are more than just personal missives that Angel has set to music, they are living and breathing experiences that we have all shared. The names may change, but the stories remain the same.

Angel Taylor's album is a beautiful intro to what's sure to be this young artist's long musical journey. 'Love Travels' was one of just a handful of albums that I thought worth buying and adding to my summer '09's soundtrack .
...and it's been one of those albums that has lasted long beyond the usual time that most new music becomes old. Her voice is still such a joy to listen to, and has become welcome company as summer fades and autumn creeps in. Wishing her and her piano bench a very long and creative journey ahead!

I personally feel Angel Taylor went very much unnoticed...I constantly see promos of this record filed under soul/R&B but in reality, she's singer/songwriter folky pop, along the lines of Colbie Caillat and Sara Barailles, but got misfiled due to the colour of her skin. I think this played into the failure of the album "Love Travels" at Aware/Columbia...despite the vidclip of her song "Like You Do" getting tons of TV play on VH1 and AT even getting the nod as one of their "You Oughta Know" artists. I feel she is a talented singer/songwriter, quite underrated and "Love Travels" a sheer refreshing delight...but positive reviews many times don't translate into record sales unfortunately.

Well, the execs at Aware/Columbia/Sony prob felt at their wits' end what to do with Angel, and the label and Angel & her managers prob felt it was best to part ways despite their best efforts...I don't sense any bad blood here...things just sometimes don't work out. This had to have been the case BECAUSE I just saw Angel on Season 2 of NBC's "The Voice" last night singing Adele's "Someone Like You"...could this be ironic as a parting ways to her former label??? Adele is on Columbia and the song is a breakup song??!!?? I say this because she could not be on the Voice unless she was dropped and is label-free...well, now, perhaps, Angel Taylor can get the exposure and break that she never had with "Love Travels"...I'm rooting for her, and now she's on Adam's team...I wonder if he ever heard "Love Travels"??? Cuz he said he knew EXACTLY what to do with her as opposed to Blake who did not but was willing to try...Adam won last year with Javier, so we'll see...all in all, I was thrilled to see Angel Taylor on the show...now people will get to know this exceptionally talented, unique, singer/songwriter who falls in the space between soul singer and happy/confessional singer/songwriter/guitarist.

Go Angel Taylor!!! ;)

I absolutely love this cd! I bought is two days ago, and I can't stop listening to it. Angel Taylor is... well, I can't say enough good things. She is a very talented young lady. I was a little disappointed that she didn't write ALL the songs, but hey, she wrote eight of thirteen. :) But this cd is great for those who like people like Ingrid Michaelson, Sara Bareilles, and Colbie Caillat. Most people will tell you that, but it is so true. And I like all of those artists. But she is a unique blend. Her words are unique yet innocent, yet very deep at the same time. HEr voice is versatile, ranging from soft pop to loud cries of "why?", to a jazzy-pop mix. Her melodies are crafted expertly, and her pieces aren't exactly easy to sing (I still haven't figured out how to sing 'chai tea latte' yet). But overall, I hope that she remains mildly undiscovered, yet I want success for her. I can't wait for more music from her! Angel you are amazing!!!!! :)

I stumbled on Angel's music by chance one evening and the CD has slowly evovled into one of my favorite of all time. It would be easy to list the songs with a review for each one, but that would be short changing the effort. My favorite artists (as a reference) range from Tom Waits to Lisa Gerrard, with a wide sampling in between. Angel's music is so incredibly fresh, sincere and personal. You almost feel like you are listening in on a private conversation. I feel most fortunate that I found her music as her phrasing, lyrics and melodies are a beautiful blend of emotions. I truly love this CD and hope she achieves all she has dreamed of. So very special !

I really love this cd. I was able to relate in some way to every song. Her songs have helped me to express my feelings just by singing the lyrics along with her. I'm currently studying English at a university and one thing we do a lot is interpret poems and lyrics. Because of that, I have been taking a closer look at some of the lyrics of the songs I listen to all of the time. Her lyrics are the types that every young woman can relate to; words expressing feelings of love and heartache. They are simply beautiful. Even the way she puts these songs together are wonderful. She definitely has her own unique sound. I am very glad I bought this cd!

I had never heard of Angel Taylor until I saw her on VH1 Nocturnal State as a band you outta know. Its been a long time since I bought an album on the whim that was as good a Love Travels. There is not one song that i fast forward nor are there any songs that seem like album filler. This is the kind of music you can turn on after a long day of work to help you relax. I am having a hard time thinking of someone to compare her to but perhaps the first Nora Jones record Angel Taylor is that polished. Give it a try if you like nice relaxing music that is well written and well produced you will enjoy it.
