This review is from: Love Is a Many Trousered Thing (Confessions of Georgia Nicolson) (Hardcover)
Georgia Nicolson, our fabbity-fab friend and true sufferer in luuuuuurve, is back in this eighth installment of the series by Louise Rennison. Since the last book (Startled by His Furry Shorts) left us on a major cliffhanger, this one was most eagerly anticipated, and it did resolve the main issue of Masimo and Robbie. But, oh, the other turns Georgia's life takes!
Set during the last two weeks of term, Georgia finds herself in the delicious scenario of having to choose between Italian Stallion Masimo and Sex God Robbie. You might think this is a good thing, being sought after by two such gorgy porgy guys, but as per usual, things do not go smoothly for Georgia as she feasts on the mucho handsome guys while hanging out with the ace gang, fighting with Mutti and Vati, chasing after Angus and Gordy, keeping Libby out of the airing closet, and hiding from the Baldy-gram uncle. And is there really a choice, since both potential boyfriends seem to not be taking any initiative? Mix in an end of term camping expedition, a few disco infernos, and a bubblegum disco dance and you've Georgia's usual hilarious musings. And just when you think things are going to calm down, who shows up? Dave the Laugh! Is there anyone else besides me who wants Georgia to realize he's the one for her? This is a good installment, but not my favorite in the series. While there are still plenty of laugh out loud moments, and I particularly love how Georgia vows not to do something and two minutes later, there she is doing it, I do wish we'd move along a bit in the story and I'm beginning to wonder why Jas is even a member of the Ace Gang. Fun, fast reading, but poor Georgia is still left on the rack of pain. Still, it's typical Georgia, and that's never a bad thing. Enjoy!

Ohmygiddygodstrousers! What a wonderful installment in my (second) favorite series!
I got into this series because of my intense HP withdrawal between books 4 and 5, and I have yet to be disappointed. There are only two things that keep me from giving it the 5th star, and they are 1) The book is too short! It only covers about two weeks, and the dilemma that she was facing at the end of book 7 is still there (with some minor alterations) at the end of book 8. I won't spoil it for you, so don't freak out. 2) That ugly cover! I know, I know, I shouldn't give in to that particular saying, but I can't help it. If I were just considering this series now instead of 3-4 years ago, I don't think I'd pick it up. It's too girly and odd, it looks like she's going to spend a lot of time moaning about how ugly and unpopular she is, with hardly any laughs. The old art suited the content much better in my opinion. Final Word: If you're like me and enjoy Python-esque humor, don't be too put off by the ultra-girly design. I had to change my shirt while I was reading it because I shot coffee out my nose from the part about the camping fandango. It's a good read, and I heartily recommend it.

Same old Georgia!,

Even though I'm well over 30, I started reading Georgia Nicholson's adventures years ago and they're the few books that I regularly buy in hardback. If it were possible to give Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging seven stars, I would. So I got Love is a Many Trousered Thing as soon as it was published, and read it right away.
If you've read all the books you may have noticed that the time periods are getting shorter and shorter; the sixth book covered two and a half months, the seventh book covered four weeks, and this installment covers just two weeks at the end of Georgia's fourth form (her sophomore year). The only major advancement is a resolution of sorts for the previous book's cliffhanger...to be replaced by the EXACT SAME dilemma at the end of this one. I can't say anything else about the plot because there isn't one, other than her deciding between two potential boyfriends. As much as I still love Georgia, I really hope that Louise Rennison kick-starts the series again, and Georgia has even more wonderful adventures. The cakes on the rack of luuurve are getting a little stale.

These Georgia books are absolutley marvy. I am an adult and these books have me rolling on the floor laughing. When I come to the end of a book I crave the next one. I recommend this series to all teenagers and all my friends. Louise Rennison is a great and talented writer. I hope this series never ends.

The 9th book in this series was the shortest yet, and the most exciting part was the end where something big happened but it finishes in the 10th book. The book was good, I love this series, but like I said shorter.

Georgia Nicolson is hilarious. This isn't the kind of funny that makes sense--it's actually the kind of hilarious that doesn't make sense, but yuo laugh anyway because it sounds funny. Um, that probably didn't come out right. But whatever; all you've got to know is that if you're looking for entertainment and a chortle of maniacal laughter, this is the series for you.
In case you didn't pick up, this is the 8th book in the series. Georgia Nicolson's crush on Masimo (an Italian guy) is finally no longer a crush when he tells her that he is a "free man" for her. At which point, former crush and ex-boyfriend Robbie returns and makes Georgia confused: does she want Masimo or Robbie? Throw in a bunch of very interesting friends (namely Jas and Rosie, who are just as crazy as Georgia) a third love interest, and you've got the diary of Georgia in your hands. For starters, I would just like to praise the author (Louise Rennison) for creating the character Georgia Nicolson. Georgia is every bit like a teenager and more: crazy, superficial, moody, and a whole bunch of other adjectives. But mostly, she's just outright hilarious to the point where I can't stop laughing. Reading the book was like talking to a real-life Georgia. Listening to her describe her love life and her "besty" Jas was a real laugh. The author has created such an interesting (yet, at the same time, incredibly stupid and obnoxious) character that it's hard NOT to like her. Also, I'm thinking there's bound to be one or two more books in this series and it's bye-bye Georgia. Maybe she'll just finish at Book Ten (in which case, I'm rooting for Crush Number 3, even though I think Number 2 is just as cool, but hey, it's not my choice to make). So, like I said, if you really just want a funny and interesting book, go ahead and pick up the first installment to the series. But be warned, because this is written by a British author and uses terms that may seem unfamiliar, but well, there's a glossary. Heh.
