The sixth sweet, thrilling book in the New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling Weekday Brides series from Catherine Bybee.

Book Description

"Heart-melting and guaranteed to make you laugh and cry before you finish the last page." -- New York Times Bestselling Author Sawyer Bennett

From the author of the NEW YORK TIMES bestselling Can't Resist series comes a fun, romantic standalone novel in the USA TODAY bestselling Cactus Creek series.

He's a better fighter...but she has all the weapons.

After his combat injuries retire him from the military career he wasn't ready to give up, battle-scarred Hudson Reyes now spends his new life as a movie industry fight scene and weapons specialist simply doing what he knows best: surviving.

Until he meets her. The one woman who makes him want to live again.

An antique arms authenticator with a lifetime of martial arts training, Liana Lin has made a living turning the demons of her past into the passions that fuel, and fill, her life. She's a scrappy little thing. A sweet, angel-faced wrecking ball to his good intentions. Hell's bells, watching her execute that wicked roundhouse kick of hers shouldn't be a turn-on--especially not when his head is the receiving target--but hot damn, it is. She's a fiery, unpredictable paradox who wears her heart on her sleeve, despite the wounds he knows she has hidden as deeply as he hides his own.

Even though she's everything he's told himself he can't have, Hudson can't help but want her. Sure as sin, if one woman could sneak past the barbed wires he's wrapped around his heart, it'd be Lia.

Now if only they could stop sparring long enough to find out...

Love, Chocolate, and Beer [Luke & Dani]
Love, Diamonds, and Spades [Rylan & Quinn]
Love, Tussles, and Takedowns [Hudson & Lia]
Love, Exes, and Ohs [Isaac & Xoey]

(modern small town, contemporary romance, laugh and cry love story, sweet alpha heroes, strong feisty heroines, funny meddling friends, fun beach read)

"Emotional, sexy, and so unique!" -- NYT Bestselling Author Carly Phillips on Violet Duke

"Charming, witty, and so very colorful in her descriptions, I am completely drawn into the world she builds.  Violet has taken a story line that could have been a serious downer, and while respecting the issues addressed and giving them the depth they deserved, still filled it with funny, delightful and loving characters that infused just enough humor to make this book a joy to read." -- Ms. C's Diversions Book Blog

"Simply put, Love, Tussles, and Takedowns will make you laugh (a lot), make you cry, have you cheering, and make you believe that when two people are meant to be together, nothing can stop them." -- Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews Blog

"Violet Duke has a hit in the Cactus Creek series...there is just something magical about this little town." -- Melena's Reviews Blog

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book! June 30, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I fell In love with Hudson and Lia quickly! Their love story was different from most that I've read. They had their ups and downs but I was always rooting for them! I laughed and cried and I am so glad I read Love, Tussles and Takedowns. Hudson's problems are some that I know many veterans must face but unless you are directly affected its hard to understand. I have a much better view now. Lia was perfect for him and his recovery and their happily ever after started! It's a great book....a must read!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sigh June 30, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Violet Duke does it again! Love Tussles and Takedowns, book three in the Cactus Creek series, is a sweet story of two strong but damaged people. A strong alpha, Hudson doesn't give himself to many. Just as strong, Lia, also keeps her heart to herself. But from their first sight of each other, there is a connection between them. They decide to become "friends with partial benefits". They help each other fix the broken parts. I loved the interaction between them and Lia's brothers, who have made themselves her personal protection squad. There is love, sex (hot), humor, and hand to hand fighting (between Hudson & Lia!) A good, quick read you will love.

I read book #.5 of this series – A Little Combustible Chemistry – and then skipped to this book. I’m not really sure if it would have helped if I read the books in between or not.

I really liked the characters and would have liked more detail about them. I loved the playful relationship of Lia and Hudson. I liked how they were tuned into each other. I liked the protectiveness of Lia’s family toward her.

I’m not sure if it was the writing style or something else, but there were times in the book that I had difficulty following what was happening or I felt like I missed something. The first two or three chapters were the worst for me. I almost didn’t make it past them. There was very little “talking” in the first two chapters. At one point I even thought that Hudson couldn’t speak. But that was just me misreading the book. That’s how confused it made me at times. There was one thing that we learned about in the book that I would have liked to see resolved. But I guess it was a bit more realistic not knowing the outcome.

I will probably give this series another chance because I do like the characters and the town. I do feel that it has possibilities.

5.0 out of 5 stars Violet Keeps on Giving June 30, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Wow! Another great book by Violet. I love reading about strong women characters as well as a strong male characters. Violet does such a great job of creating a picture of the characters showing their strengths as well as their weaknesses. She has a way of pulling you in to the story so you are either the character, or right there with the characters. I love reading about military men which this gave me along with a love story. The protective family that the main character has was fun to read about and I wanted to be a part of the family. Grab the book, get a glass of your favorite beverage, and lay back for an enjoyable read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love, Tussles & Takedowns... And Hudson. June 30, 2014
By Mellaz
Format:Kindle Edition
Violet Duke strikes again! I'd been eagerly awaiting this next installment of The Cactus Creek series and Love, Tussels and Takedowns did not disappoint! It was absolutely worth the wait. For me, this book had it ALL! Within the first few pages I was snorting in laughter and later I was crying like a baby. I loved the relationship between Hudson and Lia and watching it develop was an emotional roller-coaster ride for me and I loved every single bit of it. I really cannot wait for more from this brilliant author and this fantastic series.

4.0 out of 5 stars A winner! June 30, 2014
By AuntR
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ms. Duke has struggled to get this book out to her fans due to factors beyound her control; but the wait was definitely worth it. I read it on a rainy Sunday afternoon and it was the perfect way to pass the time. I loved the main characters. Both suffering from deep hurts and pain, they come together and heal each other. Loved seeing characters from her other books intertwined in the story and definitely looking forward to reading more about those Spencer boys!

5.0 out of 5 stars an amazing journey June 30, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Hudson and Lia's journey is not your cookie cutter romance. I love Lia's strength and her take charge attitude. I love that they both have obstacles to overcome, but realize they are better together. There are many surprises and I loved Hudson's career choice in the end!
