5.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 Blue Ribbons from Romance Junkies!, February 21, 2008
This review is from: Love Under Siege (Brothers in Arms, Book 2) (Paperback)
Maggie loves her husband, Phillip, and adores his best friend, Jonathan. Longing to satisfy her husband, Maggie suppresses her inhibitions and tries to fulfill Phillips many sexual fantasies. When Jonathan's light flirting becomes more provocative, Maggie realizes that not only does she love Phillip, but she is also falling hard for Jonathan. Mortified and unnerved by her emerging feelings, Maggie refuses to consider bringing Jonathan in as a third, even if it is something that Phillip strongly desires.

Jonathan Overton adores Phillip's wife, Maggie. But it is not only Maggie that has captured his heart, but Phillip as well. When his feelings of adoration are returned, he counts himself one of the luckiest men in the world. While Maggie balks at having Jonathan as a third in her marriage bed, she doesn't hesitate to show him independently how much she loves and desires him. Jonathan wants more, but secretly feels deep down that he is unworthy.

When tragedy strikes and Maggie is harmed, it will take more than her love to bring Jonathan back to her marriage; it will take Phillip's love for Jonathan as well.

LOVE UNDER SIEGE is achingly tender and compellingly erotic. While I was treated to a great historical, I was also enmeshed in a fabulous ménage. Stirring emotions bubble from all three main characters; emotions that twisted my heart as I watched them struggle to acknowledge and accept feelings, needs and wants. Because living in a ménage relationship invites many repercussions, Maggie's indecision is perfectly believable and understandable. I don't blame her a bit for her reservations and I feel the author handled Maggie's feelings with finesse. Upon reading about their longstanding friendship, Phillip and Jonathan charmed their way into my heart. I felt completely at ease with their love, and found their relationship both wonderfully heartwarming and exceedingly erotic.

LOVE UNDER SIEGE is the second Brothers in Arms book by Samantha Kane and I'm anticipating that it won't be the last. Samantha Kane very conveniently left some storylines hanging in LOVE UNDER SIEGE, and I can't wait to see if these issues are resolved in future novels! I emphatically salute Ms. Kane for a wonderful story well told!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot. Hot. Hot., February 21, 2008
This review is from: Love Under Siege (Brothers in Arms, Book 2) (Paperback)
This is the second of the Brothers in Arms series. Love Under Siege is very similar to The Courage to Love. The sex scenes in this book though similar are very erotic and show a new dimension to Menage a trois relationships. If you like your books with a bit of the forbidden I recommend Love Under Siege.

5.0 out of 5 stars brothers in arms, March 29, 2008

Johnathon and Philip are childhood friends and war vets. They search and find the woman they can both love in Maggie. While she marries Philip, it has been planned for them to be a true menage with Johnathon, and the fun begins when he moves in with them.
I like the story it is hot and goes through the historical points to catch you. The sex is great, and the scenes where the guys discover how hot sex together can get, WOW....

This review is from: Love Under Siege (Brothers in Arms, Book 2) (Paperback)
As a reader who reads more romance novels than erotic ones, I guess I had too many romantic expectations (so to speak) about this book. The near-constant sex scenes, which I think actually become boringly repetitious, are about the only thing that are holding this story together.

The story certainly isn't held together by carefully developed characters, or, more disappointingly, by the author's building up a reader's sympathy and interest for/in these characters. From the first, I was a little put off by Phillip & Jonathan's blatant plotting to bring the innocent Maggie into their threesome (although a twosome is what the guys really want -even though they don't admit it to themselves at first).

Maggie struck me as being a very unoriginal, blah heroine. Once she overcomes her hesitations (which are given the shortest possible shrift) she's just kind of --there, taking whatever Phillip or Jonathan (or both) are dishing out to her. And then she's put into an almost obligatory danger-of-rape scene from a stalker/creep character, who's going to reveal the naughty menage to Society if Phillip and Jonathan don't get rid of him first. Creating a heroine who's hopeless at looking after herself is never high on my list of desirable fictional character traits.

Finally, but most importantly from my POV, I could never believe (despite their constant protestations of it) that these characters ever felt any love for each other. OK, perhaps expecting "love" between characters in an erotic novel is the wrong sort of expectation for the reader of an erotic book to have. But heck, Anais Nin has managed to convince me that her characters had love for each other, when she wanted to and when it suited her material. Should I expect less of Samantha Kane?

2.0 out of 5 stars A recurring theme, September 14, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Love Under Siege (Brothers in Arms, Book 2) (Paperback)
Samantha Kane has developed a theme where young men form staunch friendships during the appaling war years and then have a desire to share the same woman under the one roof. It is a persuasive ploy to introduce menage relationships but why set it in another century? If the date were not stated one would assume by the way the characters speak and behave that the story was set in the present day.

"Love Under Siege" introduces two friends, Phillip and Jonathan , both of whom covet the same woman, Maggie. Jonathan backs out from persuing her, allowing his best friend to marry her instead, but their most arduous desire is to share her and live as a threesome. All this is concocted behind Mary's back who is innocent and green in the art of lovemaking. Jonathan grows weary of waiting and urges his friend to make haste with Maggie's progress in the bedroom as his desires are raging beyond control! Peter is more than eager to oblige, wishing to relive the experience of sharing a woman with the friend he now lusts over.

Thus begins a not so delicate seduction with the two men appearing coarse and pushy not allowing Maggie a reprieve. She is shocked by such a proposition but cannot deny the attraction she feels for them. Her reticence and qualms are laid to rest by Jonathan and Phillip whose attack on all fronts leaves no room for resistance. Maggie capitulates enjoying the advances of both men until she is attacked by someone who threatens to reveal their licentious lifestyle to society.

Ms Kane focuses primarily on the sexual relationship of the characters at the expense of character development so we are bombarded with ample sex scenes before we get to know the heroes' deeper feelings, conflicts and desires. Unfortunately, most authors of erotica contend themselves to simply telling us that the heroes love each other, period. There is no actual build up of expectation or the gut wrenching need to earn someone's love. In this case, the heroine loses all her inhibitions in record time and does not hesitate to use four letter words to express her wishes in the bedroom. In fact the overuse of this limited vocabulary that the characters love to use makes them appear atavistic, with a great emphasis on raw carnality which sadly detracts from the sensual. How about some Real Emotions?

This book was just like the first. But Phillip and Jonathon were more in love with each other than Maggie. It seemed like they used Maggie for someone to bear their children, and she was their sidekick and not their wife.I'm done with this series,NEXT!

I enjoyed this book almost as much as The Courage to Love. My only comment would be how similar all the relationships were to the first book and all the plot points. It felt as though I had already read it and fortunately I enjoyed the first so the second may have been predictable but still enjoyable for what it is. It seemed like there was a set up for more books about same in the future?

3.0 out of 5 stars Book Obsessed Review: Love Under Siege, September 27, 2010
This review is from: Love Under Siege (Brothers in Arms, Book 2) (Paperback)
Phillip and Maggie have been living as husband and wife for a few short months before Jonathan arrives to live with them. Before Maggie and Phillip wed, she was unsure of which of the two men were courting her. Unbeknownst to Maggie, they both were.

What I really enjoyed about this book was the fact that Maggie was hesitant to become involved in a menage relationship. She needs time to really think about it and the repercussions that the relationship could cause. In other menage stories, you don't tend to find that. Everyone involved tends to fall into a menage relationship as if it's a normal everyday occurrence.

The sex between these three was extremely hot. Although Phillip and Jonathan did not start out being intimate with each other, you could tell that they wanted to be. The author did a really great job expressing their sexual tension. The flow of the story was good, but it just didn't seem to hold my focus.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost but not quite amazing, March 6, 2010
This book had so much potential I was a little dissapointed when it didn't quite reach it for me. The set up is hot. Two war veterans return home. One marries a woman who they're both attracted to. The problem for me was that Maggie felt like an afterthought compared to Phillip and Jonathan. I had a hard time believing the love they had for her, though it was clear they loved each other. Therefore it almost made it seem like she was a matter of convenience and the scenes where the two men were alone were more genuine (and hotter). All that aside, I still enjoyed the book and will continue to read the series. I just wished for a little bit more emotional impact to put it in the five star range.

This is book 2 in this series. It is similar to the first installment as the theme is two men, one woman and the men also love each other. I never thought I would find M/M sex hot, but I do. The love scenes are great and the true love they all feel for each other is honest and actually made me believe a true menage could work.

Give these books a try for the romance and the well written characters. Oh, don't forget about the well written sex scenes too.
