Well, being a Philadelphian, I'm bound to like George Howard and his works. This is the one that turned me on to him. I proudly use his "Broad Street" track from "Love and Understanding" right before I have a challenging day. George is and always will be the best Philly jazz man for me. (Sorry Grover). George touched emotions in me that I didn't know I had and all I can do is thank him and his genius.

Incredible Smooth Jazz,

Probably one my favorite songs by George Howard is on this CD entitled "Only Here For A Minute." The melody has an almost enchanting embrace to it. This entire CD is as they say, "OFF THE HOOK." If you want quality smooth jazz, then start a George Howard collection. He has a polished and soothing style and sound that sets him apart from any other saxophonist. I've been searching for this CD for years in different stores. Maybe I'll get lucky and Santa will deliver it to me for Christmas. What a wonderful gift it would be. You should have it too. Even though George is no longer with us in this world, his music still shines like a galaxy of stars. GET THIS CD!!!!!

Very Fine Jazz,

While recorded over 10 years ago, this work stands up to today's best. The arrangements are beautifully worked and the sax is artistically very fine. The tenderness and feeling found in "Baby, Come to Me" is satisfying and sultry. "Love and Understanding" is funky, yet lively sophisticated. "Everything I Miss At Home" is quite satisfying. "Talk to the Drum" has an African flavor with a loose stucture. This one is perfect for the jazz lover and all George Howard fans!

This is a tight production, and I enjoy it's exploration of african rhythms here.'Love Struck' is one of my favorite slow tracks here, with the passion of the soprano sax given the spotlight.

Great album, but Broad Street stands out the most. Everytime I hear it, I want to grab my remote and change it to the weather channel! Brings back the memories back in 1991 in Virginia, seeing the "current conditions", "48-Hour Forecast" with scrolling lettering text and a basic blueish purple background. All courtesy of Telemedia Cable Company of Troutville, VA. Ahh the halcyon days of early adulthood!
Love listening to it every chance I get, wherever I go. Even have a duplicated single in my van. Fantastic summertime music.

One of his best!,

When we lost George Howard, we lost an amazing talent-his music was (and is)some of the best as a body of work that I can think of. This album, along with Do I Ever Cross your Mind and Personal, are the 3 I put in my changer when I'm travelling. (Plus Lonnie Liston Smith's Visions of a New World & Ronnie Law's Flame). These are all great albums for driving, for relaxing and unwinding. If you're looking to expand your listening horizons and have not heard Howard's work, I recommend this one, plus the other 2 I mentioned, for starters. I've heard his work described as 'smooth jazz'; listen to Love and Understanding or Personal or Shadow and tell me that's smooth!
