5.0 out of 5 stars What better title...MASTERPIECE!
I've been listening to this on repeat for about a week (give or take) since it leaked. I liked it so much I went out to buy it today and ended up spending an extra $6 on the double disk. (Which is worth it the 11 tracks on the bonus disk are all very good) I immediately was able to relate really well and loved the socially consciousness of the music. It almost gives you...

5.0 out of 5 stars What better title...MASTERPIECE!, March 2, 2010
I've been listening to this on repeat for about a week (give or take) since it leaked. I liked it so much I went out to buy it today and ended up spending an extra $6 on the double disk. (Which is worth it the 11 tracks on the bonus disk are all very good) I immediately was able to relate really well and loved the socially consciousness of the music. It almost gives you a Marvin Gaye feel. He makes a 70's style of music seem very current today. To me, what makes this album so great is the strong message that's involved with every song.

"Bulletproof" needs no intro, in an industry filled with cheating & heartbreaks, it definitely brings a new flavor and gives you something to think about. It was a very creative song, you can tell Raheem Devaughn really dug deep in order to write a song like that.

"Greatness" is a "great" track, as a big Wale fan, I didn't think he would do well on a song like this but he really showed off. This song could be like an anthem to women everywhere.

"I Don't Care" is a song that really jumped out at me, another song that has a good meaning and great sound. It describes those relationships (I think we've all had on like this) where it seems like theres more people in the relationship than just 2 people because everyone tries to have an opinion or say so in the relationship

"Black & Blue" is probably my favorite song on the album. I know soooo many women that are in this situation but don't remove themselves from their abusive situations because they believe that's how their man shows love, dead wrong. I now have a song to play for them, hopefully Raheem Devaughn can get through to these women.

"Mr. Right" is a great song, very positive, hopefully songs like this one can motivate certain men that refuse to grow or mature. "Fragile" is definitely a "Raheem Devaughn style" song. Its what you would expect from a Raheem Devaughn song. If you got in a friends car and they were playing this song, you would immediately know this was Raheem Devaughn, which is something I can't say for a song like "Bulletproof". That is another thing that makes this CD so great, Raheem shows off his versatility and really brings a diverse sound on just about every song.

"My Wife" is a great song! One of the motto's I've always used is "I'm not looking for a boo, wifey, girlfriend, or any of that...I'm looking for someone with the characteristics of a WIFE" that motto basically describes this song. Moving past all the labels and making it official.

"B.O.B" is such a creative song!!!!!! "Battery Operated Boyfriend", all of us men have heard women rave and talk about them...but Raheem Devaughn puts a nice spin on it...he describes that "BOB" can't run your bathwater, tell you he loves you, kiss you, tell you he misses you, etc. Plus, BOB's batteries run out...EXTREMELY CREATIVE SONG!!!

"Bedroom" adds to the diversity of this album, you have songs that are socially conscious, love songs, a woman's anthem, and this puts a "freaky" twist to everything....a track like this is a must have for every R&B album!

"Microphone" is a subliminal style song, similar to "Customer", make it seem like your talking about one think, when you're actually talking about something else. Raheem Devaughn has said before that he can write songs like this in his sleep. It shows what a creative genius he is because this doesn't seem like an easy song to pencil. "Garden of Love" is has a throwback feel, like i said above, he makes an old school sound, sound very current. He does it very well on this song.

"Nobody Wins in War" is another socially conscious song. Very deep and has a great sound. The moral of the song is "A soldier never wins a war, they only give their life" Its a song that definitely will give you some food for thought.

"Revelations" is a song featuring Damien Marley that is also very conscious. It's recorded over Jay-z's "Can I LIve" instrumental and throughout the song he questions "Can I Live?" just as Jay-z did on his version. Just like Jay-z's version of the song, this is a great song. Damien Marley does very well on this song

Out of every song on this CD there is not ONE song that I skip or don't listen to, its seriously flawless. I've seen it got a 10/10 by a couple of the websites that had reviewed the album and I personally cannot argue with that rating at all. This is a CD I will listen to for 10 years. This will be universally known as a classic album!

5.0 out of 5 stars The time to Love has always been NOW, March 2, 2010

Good music. I love the fact that he has made a cd to uplift and spread out the message of love for yourself and others. When it is fashionable to not be comfortable with who you are because mass media is alawys pushing how imperfect you are to have you buy the latest product or service this cd stresses the imporatnce of standing for something called love for yourself as you are. Also Cornel West does a masterful job stressing the importance of getting back to basics and simply loving and having compassion for humanity and to quit being indifferent to other peoples suffering. This cd is long over do and Im more than glad to support it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Raheem does it again!, March 2, 2010
I have been a fan of Raheem Devaughn before he even put out his debut. In a magazine Jill Scott said that you should be listening to him therefore I jumped to it and searched for his music. Once I found it I was an instant fan. Raheem has a great voice, it draws you in. He sings a long song as if he knows what he is doing. He has mastered the art of blending R&B and soul. He has soul and passion which I love a artist to have but onto "The Love and War Masterpeace." This album is narrated by Cornel West which gives it some realness. I love Bulletproof although I do not feel Ludacris added to the track. I would have much rather heard Raheem harmonizing instead at that point, I think it would have been tighter. I love The Greatness with Wale. "I Don't Care" sounds like a throwaway track but it is listenable. I love his love songs from Black& Blue, Mr. Right, Fragile, My Wife which touches me. I love Bedroom, Microphone and Garden of Love as well. I dig what he was trying to do with "Nobody wins a War" but to me it missed the mark. It's like an ingredient is missing. I cannot listen to the track. I admire his attempt to make the song though and I know his heart was in the right place. You have done it again Raheem! You have blown my mind! It is about damn time for you to get your just due in the music industry!

5.0 out of 5 stars Raheem DeVaughn's best album, March 8, 2010
Raheem DeVaughn released his third album "The Love And War MasterPeace" and judging from the title, one would think that it's an album full of social commentary. Actually, only three songs are geared towards that topic- the Ludacris assisted "Bulletproof", the song "Nobody Wins A War" (which has a guest list longer than the average DJ Khaled song), and the closing track "Revelations 2010" which samples Jay-Z's "Can I Live". Most of the production on this album is handled by Masters At Work alumni Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez, who was also responsible for Raheem's debut single "Guess Who Loves You More". Orthodox & Ransum, who produced his biggest hit "Customer", return for the song "Mr. Right". Lil' Ronnie, who did R. Kelly's "I'm A Flirt", contributes two songs, "Microphone" as well as the domestic violence themed "Black And Blue". On the song "B.O.B." he sings about wooing a woman who is too attached to her sex toy (The acronym stands for Battery Operated Boyfriend). The Ne-Yo penned "I Don't Care" warrants a few spins- even if it does sound a lot like Robin Thicke's 2008 single "Magic". For as lengthy as this album is, surprisingly, it contains no filler. In short, this album is Raheem's best by a landslide.

5.0 out of 5 stars He Did it Again!!!, March 25, 2010

I got goosebumps when I heard Raheem was putting out another album. I still have his first two in heavy rotation but anxiously awaited this album and was first in line the Tuesday it came out. He did not disappoint. Very strong vocals and I love his content. This is a very solid artist and I'm so happy he hasn't gone all commercial. He stays true to his art. If you are new to Raheem DeVaughn take my advice buy this album and definitely buy the first two, the Love Experience and Love Behind the Melody.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid, Interesting...., March 13, 2010

All I can say is this is a darn good CD!!! I'm not one to give song-by-song breakdown, but if you heard, and like, Bulletproof you will enjoy the rest of this project. I like how Raheem used spoken words from Cornell West intertwined with the songs to keep the social conscience message of this project on point.... Another solid performance from the R&B Hippie..

5.0 out of 5 stars Raheem Devaughn Love and War Masterpiece Deluxe, March 9, 2010
The Love and War Masterpiece by far will go down in history as a classic. When today our ears are filtered with 3rd class R & B Raheem delivers a masterpiece. The compilations, the artistry, the creativity is nothing less than a musical legend in the makings. Raheem is good music at it's finest and I appreciate great music. Oh and to capture both elements of Love and War and for it to all make sense. Great job Raheem!

5.0 out of 5 stars Real MUSIC, April 20, 2010
This CD is excellent! I typically do not like ot hear R&B singers with uptempo songs, but Raheem DeVaughn is so incredible, he makes any track worth listening to. My favorite song is I Don't Care. It's so off the hook. I've been listening to this CD on repeat for about two weeks. You will NOT be disappointed.
