Astonishingly well researched,
By Lewis M. Weinstein "author of THE HERETIC, CA... (Key West, FL and Collioure, France) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Love and War in the Pyrenees: A True Story (Hardcover)
Well researched with numerous interviews and review of documents. Also very well written. Bailey explores the many sides of France's collaboration with and resistance to the Nazis in this corner of France during the years of occupation in WWII. You can feel the excruciating choices facing the French people once their total military collapse left them a subject nation. The book also includes little known descriptions of the plight of Spanish exiles from Franco who streamed into southern France.
