Book Description

**Love & Wrath Bundle now available w/ The Beginning plus bonus epilogue & free audio download**

A shameful secret. A powerful friendship. Righteous vengeance...

This best-selling novella pulls back the curtain on the lives of two best friends, Sheila & Lily, successful art gallery owners who are well-known in the Mid-Western art world. Beautiful art is the last thing that these friends are worried about, though, when their friend Keisha flees her abusive husband after years of covering for him and comes to her friends for help. Keisha's husband is hot on her track and all three friends soon find themselves facing down the abuser. Their only choice is to protect each other and to try to put a stop to his behavior once and for all. Suspense and a surprise romance bring this story to a shocking finale as the friends work together to execute justice their way.

From the Author

I began planning the Love & Wrath series in 2008, but didn't put pen to paper until December 2010. Originally, the entire series was to be one novel, but in the process of writing, I realized that letting the epilogue to the story roll over into a second book would be more entertaining to readers and allow for more creativity with the ending. This is how the audio accompaniment to the epilogue, Love & Wrath II: Confessions, was born. My intent in writing the story was to create a contemporary, entertaining tale full of suspense with a romantic twist.

The locations and neighborhoods mentioned in the book are true to Kansas City, MO, with the exception of the Voyeur Gallery. The characters, however, are completely fictitious despite the wonderful work of the voiceover artists who bring them to life in the audio accompaniment. Because of its unique blend of themes, action, and storyline, Love & Wrath: The Beginning has been classified as Contemporary Women's fiction, Romance, and even Chick Lit.. However you classify it, I hope you enjoy the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Beginning! April 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Author G.E. introduces the world to Love & Wrath with the introductory book in the series, The Beginning. I found the writing to be very fluid and was an easy read. As someone that doesn't pride themselves on speed reading, I finished this one in a day and enjoyed every minute of it!

The story centers around a group of friends, and reminds me of a Sex and the City setting, only with a male in the group. The story quickly unfolds as the friends deal with everyday life and their careers, while developing relationships and other feelings. The group is tested, and their friendship is put to the ultimate test (you have to read to know more!)

The main character in the story, Lily, is quite intriguing, too. She comes across at the Carrie Bradshaw of the group, but with a darker side not to be messed with. Don't get me wrong, this is not a Sex and the City copy or parody. Love & Wrath stands alone, and I recommend to everyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT READ! October 16, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Love & Wrath: The Beginning is the first book in a three part series that promises to be wonderful; very detailed and well written.

This book introduces a group of friends (strong, independent women) that will go to great lengths to protect the hearts and lives of one another. One strives to maintain her legal career and support the dreams of her best friend, the aspiring artist. While another faces her own demon and reaches to her closest friends for help.

The suspense and triumphs are great in this one and I will be waiting to see where these women head next in their journey.

5.0 out of 5 stars From a NON-READER August 29, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
OK, this is coming from a NON-reader. I absolutely LOVED this book. It was fulled with just enough suspense making you anxious to turn the page, just enough intimacy without being trashy, and the ending was an ending but left you wanting to know....WHAT'S NEXT?

Can't wait for the next part!

4.0 out of 5 stars The first of a promising series February 12, 2012
By ditz68
Format:Kindle Edition
Set against a backdrop of the Kansas City artworld this novel tells the story of Lily, an independant middle-aged woman who's recently re-invented herself from corporate drudge to budding artist. Encouraged by her best friend and business partner Sheila, she's quickly making a name for herself as a talented photographer.

This book was a casual stroll through the character backstory, which quickly accelerated as the suspense began to build, culminating in a dramatic conclusion. At the end I found myself genuinely interested in where the protagonists Keisha, Lily, Sheila and Marco will find themselves next, but without the annoyance of the 'standard cliffhanger' designed to pull you in by force. It's the first of three books and there are definitely indications of further back-story not yet explored (such as why Lily chose to leave Atlanta so quickly...) that I expect will continue through the series.

Some disadvantages with this book that leave it a little shy of the 5 star mark include a few minor spelling mistakes, that it was written in the third person (not a favourite of mine) and there were times where the prose could have done with a little more polish. But, as obvious from the rating none of these would deter me from trying the author again and, all thing considered it shows great potential.

G.E. Johnson's Love and Wrath is one of those novels that bends and blends genre almost beyond belief--chick-lit with its emphasis on the glitz and glamor of Kansas City photography; suspense with its hint of doom and gloom gradually turning to fear; edgy Christian with a protagonist who enjoys a "chakra balancing massage," thanks God, then rides rough-shod over rules in a surprising scene of terror; plus romance with the lonely heart facing a changing scene of friendship. Starving artist enjoys great good fortune, lonely unloved finds long-awaited love, and faithful prayer either prevails or falls prey to human flaw. But there's certainly love in earlier chapters, and wrath when hints of danger become real.

G. E. Johnson's novel feels fairly complete in itself, despite being first of a series. Many side-tracking back-stories twist and turn, and protagonist Liz's inner thoughts and motivations are detailed carefully as she delights "in giving [people] thought and emotion provoking images to look at." Some odd word choices and long-winded conversations might seem more natural to younger readers than to me, but in time the youthful enthusiasm of the characters provides an interesting backdrop to age-old human problems. It will be interesting to see where the rest of this series takes its characters, and what consequences they face after the excitement of this tale's conclusion.

Disclosure: I met the author online and learned of a free deal for this ebook, so I thought I'd read and review it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A new series for my Kindle... January 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I read Ms. Johnson's first novella, Love & Wrath: The Begnning today. Lily and her friends' lives and relationsips remind me of the soap operas that I miss so much. Ms. Johnson's distinctive flair for the arts, fashion, decor, and good taste shine in her work. She is a prolific writer with the knack for bringing attention to minute details while attacking pertinent issues facing our society. I'm so happy to see that the series will go on. I look forward to adding this collection of work to my Kindle!
