5.0 out of 5 stars Great things do come the first time around
The first release from I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness was pretty impressive. There are more words in their unique name than there are songs on their EP, but it is well worth the buy. They have a beautiful sadness about their sound with melodic guitars and expressive lyrics. Highly recommended.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too much hype
Eh, there is one song on this album that's ok, if you like trendy electric indie pop garbage. Why did I believe this band was any good in the first place? Their name is so pretentious it makes me throw up in my mouth. You're better off listening to Nine Inch Nails, at least they know how to bring it.

This is a pretty fantastic debut CD. Yet another great indie band out of Austin. Could be a little longer, though. Wish they included "Black Mouth." Overall, quite an auspicious debut. Can't wait until they cut an full-length.

5.0 out of 5 stars This EP is absolutely brilliant...., August 5, 2008
This review is from: I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness (Audio CD)
I agree with what one reviewer said below, it's filled with this dark, beautiful, aching sadness...just as life so often is. Beauty and sorrow are often intertwined, and these guys use that paradox to create great art. And lyrically, I consider this band to be phenomenal. They are very literate- and again, dark, but also true to life. It seems to come straight from the heart, and neither their music nor their lyrics seem the least bit phony or affected. This is as real as it gets.

I can't recommend this highly enough. It's just wonderful, and it's always awesome to see such a young band filled with this kind of talent and potential. 5 Stars all the way.....
