Book Description

September 1, 2011

Returning to the haunting hideaway of Mystic Falls, the fictional setting of the CW hit series The Vampire Diaries, this new guide promises to further satisfy the show's many loyal viewers. Garnering huge ratings for the network week after week, The Vampire Diaries’ mix of horror, romance, drama, and self-aware humor has maintained a growing fan base through its second hit season. This volume follows in the footsteps of the previous guide by featuring insightful explorations of each episode’s rich history, supernatural mythology, film references, character development, and much more. Chapters on the vampire, werewolf, and doppelganger lore that inspired the show are included as well as behind-the-scenes details on the making of the series, the people who started it all, and the fandom that keeps it alive. With photos of the irresistible cast and chilling filming locations, this second installment once again captures the fun, fangs, and fear that make this bloodcurdling production so epic.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Preeiminent Guide to The Vampire Diaries! August 22, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
The preeminent guide to watching The Vampire Diaries! When I discovered Crissy's first book, I could not WAIT for the second. Though not as snarky as twitter or chatroom conversations that ultimately come about during and after an episode where we hash and re-hash what we think is everything, Crissy never fails to deliver! The "devil's in the details"--I particularly enjoy those fine points that seem to slip by the rest of us...the paintings on the wall (replicas of actual stolen works), the closetful of leather jackets, an ORANGE! I love her analogies and references to classic works of literature and history. They are always spot-on, and frequently things that never occurred to the viewer. The format is perfect--glad she kept it from the first book! The interviews, the timeline, the sidebars (which I cheat and save till last)...Crissy's book makes anticipation of the next season a thrill! Love the "previously on" and "compelling moments"...I may not always agree with the most compelling, but she certainly makes an excellent case! As a fan of the book series, too, I enjoy seeing the comparisons to Fell's Church. Really saves me from having to go look them up! p.s. I'm still looking for that geneaology/family tree chart I suggested last year before it turns into a forest! Kudos!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thought provoking December 7, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed this book and the companion to season 1 as well. Both books give you great insights into each episode. There are tons of things that I hadn't thought of or realized while watching the show that were pointed out in the companion book. Ms. Calhoun did a great job, and I look forward to future Unofficial Companions to TVD. If you're a fan of TVD, you can't afford to miss out on these books!

Format:Kindle Edition
Ive only read the sample and already Im hooked. It goes along well with the series and I like the humorous stories from set aka Paul Ian and Nina all ending up getting hurt or sick during filming. Keep up the great work
