Best book ever!,

This review is from: I Love You. Now What?: Falling in Love is a Mystery, Keeping It Isn't (Paperback)
I have read many relationship books, but this is the first one that has really helped me.
I had a difficult home life growing up, and the wounds followed me into my adult life. When I got into relationships I was placing high demands on my partners to fulfill all my emotional needs and make me happy. Consequently, I still was not happy and my partners suffered too. I was relieved to find out that "I" was the one that could make me happy, and in order to achieve that happiness "I" needed to grow both spiritually and emotionally. It's a great book and I think everyone would benefit from reading it, whether they are currently in a relationship or not.

Paths Down the Road to Fulfillment,

This review is from: I Love You. Now What?: Falling in Love is a Mystery, Keeping It Isn't (Paperback)
"I Love You Now What? is a lovely book that explores processes and techniques towards creating and maintaining a loving and complete relationship over time. I found this to be particularly relevant after having been married for 26 years, and looking ahead to staying in this relationship for the rest of my life (which is one of the chapters). Mabel Iam shows a real sensitivity and awareness of what makes love work, and addresses it in a warm, beautiful and inviting style that makes the book very pleasant to read. It's divided into two major sections: The first takes a look at building and strengthening love, and the second focuses on sexuality and its part in maintaining love. All of them are broken down into very specific parts that address issues in relationships and techniques. This is a very helpful and beautifully written book, and I'm looking forward to putting it into active use in my life. I'd recommend it to anyone who's in love or wants to be. It will reinforce the things you've done right, point you in new directions and pathways in critical stages of a relationship, and it touches on things you might never have really considered. I'm glad I read it, and you will be, too.

This book is all you need, the search for your next book is over!!!!,
This review is from: I Love You. Now What?: Falling in Love is a Mystery, Keeping It Isn't (Paperback)
As an avid reader in the field of relationships, writer and coach myself...what words do I use to describe the perfection I come across when reading Mabel's material?!! This book is another JEWL of hers packed full of content giving the relationship keys, the answers to those in serious search! Not only covering answers to relationship with partner, yet also focus is placed on the necessary area of one's self...proving the rewards of reading this being far greater than just any relationship book. How does one describe the feeling that comes when the context so profound and lasting that it shakes the inside soul by the truth and beauty of the simple yet powerful message laid out? Thats exactly what Mabel does in her writings. The packed content that exceeds the normal limits for one book, yet seeming she could spread the content out into 4, 5 or 6 books. Every book of Mabel's far exceeds the quality and content of the many in the same market. I would know I've read most all, and continue to jump on every new read that comes out. This is my passion...and Mabel's writings are a God sent for anyone looking to improve their relationship!!!

Way too New-Agey for me - there are much more practical books out there.,

I didn't respond to the tone & style of this book at all - at least half of the advice involves visualizing things.
Here's an example of what to expect in this book: "In order to understand the totality that we are as beings, beyond polarites, we must understand these two realms of our reality, because these energies play an important part in relationships. The result of this inner relationship is that when projected onto the outside world, it attracts our actual love partners." I just read a much more practical book that I would highly recommend: His Needs, Her Needs for Parents: Keeping Romance Alive by Willard F. Harley This book offered concrete practical things to try rather than visualizing & pondering things as Iam suggests. Also, Harley is writing as a very experienced counselor, offering many examples from his practical experience. |
