This review is from: I Love You So Much It Hurts (Audio CD)
I always loved the music of Jimmy Wakely; he enjoyed great success for his ability to deliver a country ballad with true feeling, heart and soul--and that's no small feat! The songs on this CD give us a fine sampling of his creativity and his passion for making memorable songs bright even after all the years have passed. In addition, the sound quality is really quite good."I'm Sending You Red Roses" is very well done; Jimmy's excellent diction enhances his performance and that's grand. "Signed, Sealed and Delivered;" "One Has My Name (The Other Has My Heart);" "I Love You So Much It Hurts;" "Mine, All Mine;" "Forever" and "Till the End of the World" are both poignant and easy on the ear. Listen, too, for more gems including "I Wish I Had a Nickel" with the story it tells; the fine country ballad entitled "Someday You'll Call My Name;" "Tellin' My Troubles to My Old Guitar" with Jimmy singing at his usual very best; "Slippin' Around" which is just one song Jimmy recorded with the great Margaret Whiting; "Wedding Bells" with more of that fantastic guitar accompaniment; "Broken Down Merry-Go-Round;" "The Gods Were Angry with Me"--and a great deal more! There's not a bad track in the lot. Jimmy's fans will want this for their collections; and it's all so good that it also makes a fine introduction to Jimmy's artistry. I highly recommend this album!
