The only reason to buy this book is for the beautiful and vibrant watercolor illustrations by Abigail Marble. The story is poorly written and the only reason I can think of for publishing it is because it has Tim McGraw's name on it. He's not a writer and this book proves it. The artist is to be commended for saving this book. I'm sure the publishers looked for someone who would be able to take a short, bland story and turn it into a book that would attract attention. If your children look at this book, it's only because of the attractive illustrations. They will not ask you to read them this story over and over again. If I were only rating the art, I would have given this 5 stars, but because it's a book, the story must account for something. Sorry, Abigail, three stars is the best I could do, but it's not because of your outstanding artwork, which honestly, rates a 10.

Love Your Heart
Do you have young daughters or granddaughters? If so then this book is for you. Tim McGraw and Tom Douglas have written an awesome book for little girls. Love Your Heart tells the story of a little girl trying to find her talent and in doing so wants to make her daddy proud. Katie is a picture of all little girls trying to find their way in this world. Katie tries several different talents out to see if she has one that is good enough for the talent show. She has a lot of trouble finding a talent and finally settles on one to use for the show. Katie's father just keeps encouraging her through the whole story. On the night of the talent show Katie and her dog Palio were ready for their act when Katie saw her friend Sophie crying. Katie ends up giving up her act in order to help Sophie. Katie thinks that her dad might be disappointed with her for giving up her talent act, but is surprised by what he has to say. Her dad is so proud of her and tells her that she has a beautiful heart. He loves her heart. This book is what our little girls need in todays world. They need to love their hearts and not try to be what the rest of the world dictates. Little girl's have such beautiful hearts and they need to hang on to that. Faith Hill and daughters wrote the forward. I totally recomment this book to anyone who has young daughters or granddaughters. I am saving mine for any future granddaughters that I may be blessed with.

The book is sweet in respect that children do not always have the insight regarding putting other people's needs first. However, it touches on a little girl's selfless act, which actually helps her shine in her own way. It really honors the notion of "sportsmanship". I have one in my office to demonstrate to the children I see that sometimes one can still "win" by allowing others to win as well.

Love your heart.,

Wow! What a great little book. The story is very simple and delightful, the illustrations are amazing and I fell in love with Katie right away. Katie is a sweet, unselfish little girl that just wanted to do something for an upcoming talent show at school. She tried several things before she finally came up with an idea of what to do. At the talent show, a friend couldn't perform her talent because of an injury so Katie comes to the rescue. I can't imagine any little girl that wouldn't love this story and Katie.

Heartwarming Book,
This review is from: Love Your Heart (My Little Girl) (Hardcover)
Tim McGraw's book, Love Your Heart, is a beautifully illustrated, wonderful book. The loving relationship between the father and daughter in the story is heartwarming. The father's encouraging words builds up his daughter, and she, in turn, reaches out to help another child. In this day and age of kids growing up so quickly, a story that promotes unselfishness and good character is a necessity! I highly recommend this book!

Cute artwork!,
This review is from: Love Your Heart (My Little Girl) (Hardcover)
When it comes to reviewing book for children, I use a few different things to determine my opinion on it.
Was my child focused on the book as we read it together? Yes Did she enjoy all the pictures or artwork throughout the book? Yes Did she understand the meaning of what the book was about when we discussed it afterwords? Kind Of Did she ask me to read it again? No Although my daughter enjoyed this book as I reading it to her, she had to ask a lot of questions. Some of the words she didn't understand and I had to explain them to her as we read the book. She liked the colored pages, and she thought the people that were drawn were fun. Overall I think this book is better suited for children over 7. My 4 year old didn't want to reread it again. [...]

Love Your Heart by Tim McGraw & Tom Douglas, Illustrated by Abigail Marble,
This review is from: Love Your Heart (My Little Girl) (Hardcover)
I recently read Love Your Heart by Tim McGraw and Tom Douglas with illustrations by Abigail Marble. This childrens book is about little girls act of kindness and how her dad loves her heart. It shows a great bond between father-daughter and the greatest God has given us is the kindness in our hearts. The story didn't seem to have much of a flow and seemed like some ideas were scattered. The one thing that saved this book were Abigail Marbles illustrations. They are very colorful, detailed and beautiful! It was a nice story overall for 4-8 year olds, but I wouldn't recommend buying this book. Borrow it from the library or a friend.
I received this book for free from Thomas Nelson publishers. I was not required to submit a positive review and the opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission

Though I am not usually a fan of the celebrity-turned-author books (it often seems everyone has one), this book by Tim McGraw and Tom Douglas struck a particular note with me. Being the proud father of a little ballerina, and as someone who rides and shows horses, I appreciated the contrast in the characters. And the timing was great, as my daughter had just participated in her first talent show (dancing, of course). One thing I am often amazed by is the kindness my little girl can show for others, and it was reflected in the character of the little girl (Katie) in this book. After reading it myself, I shared it with my daughter and we read it together. Books like this that reflect strong values and an appreciation strength of character over accomplishment are always a pleasure to read. So much of what we read, see, and hear focuses on winning and being the best that it can be overwhelming for kids. Sometimes they just need a gentle reminder that being a good person is as important -- more so, actually -- as being "the best" at something. The book was just right in terms of length, though the reading level was actually a bit below what I anticipated. The story drove the lesson home without being "preachy", though the writing and character dialog seemed a bit forced at times. The artwork was very vibrant and pleasant, and my daughter and I both enjoyed it.
Overall, it was a nice little book that would make a great father-daughter gift to a girl aged 4-6. And while the story was a bit damp, it was certainly not a bad book by any stretch and has found a place on our book shelf where it will surely be read again.

This is the story of Katie who tries to find her special talent for her school talent show. She discovers her special talent after trying a few things that don't quite work out while her father cheers her along. When a friend needs her help at the talent show, Katie sacrifices her act to help her friend win the prize. Excellent morals to teach your child - plus the illustrations are fabulous! Who knew that Tim McGraw could write such awesome children's stories - that man does it all!

I thought this book told a cute story. Katie is a young girl who is trying to decide what talent to showcase at her school talent show. She demonstrates for her Dad, a bunch of different ideas... all of which have humor in them. The night of the talent show, Katie shows kindness and love to help a friend. The artwork in this book is fantastic and it gives the book a nice "happy" feeling throughout. Young girls will love this story. Simply written and right to the point... a nice story with a good message of sacrifice, selflessness, and kindness. "Love your heart" is a wonderful book to discuss what it means to be a good person and a good friend.
