A Fantastic Vibrance,
By
This review is from: Love Is Noise (Audio CD)
The track "Love is Noise" needs little explanation, it is a great song with an ensnaring pulse, and you've probably already heard it if your considering purchasing this disc. Therefore I will give you an overview of its B-side, the reason why I got this disc. "Chic Dub" is just as remarkable a song as the single, but they are nothing alike. If excellence such as this didn't make it to the album, one can only speculate how amazing 'Forth' will be. "Chic Dub" runs 6:11, and is similar in my opinion to "The Thaw Session." Beginning with a rhythm one could only receive from the Verve, it spirals about with equal amounts of input from each member of the group, particularly Ashcroft's come and go vocal brilliance. McCabe and Jones each give it their own distinctive input, and the drumming from Salisbury is great. A song like this could have worked well on "A Northern Soul." It culminates in a spectacular (if gradual) fade out, with the rhythm section building upon each others instruments, until the sounds die out. So ends a song that can rightfully take its place amongst other great Verve B-sides as "A Man Called Sun", "So Sister", and "The Longest Day", hope this helped.

Welcome Back,
This review is from: Love is Noise (MP3 Download)
A solid comeback is in order for The Verve! Richard Ashcroft is one of the best song writers out there.
