I'm surprised that the band didn't give these songs more originality if they wanted to cover them. The only one that really stood out to me was "Open Arms" because it fit really well with the voices of the guys, but the rest of the songs sounded really incongruous to me.

As the title of my reveiw suggests, I'm getting tired of hearing and buying cover albums from my favourite group of all time. When I heard the boyz were planning on releasing an album I got excited then I heard its yet another cover album and I asked why?

Not only is it a cover album but the songs selection are terrible. "Time after Time" has been covered to death. "When I Fall In Love" good colaboration with my fellow Canadian Buble but again its been done way too many times. "Amazed", "Misty Blue", "In My Life" & "Open Arms" in my opinion are girl songs and don't fit at all.

My enjoyable picks are "If You Leave Me Now","Shining Star","Back For Good" and the suprise "Iris". The only reason I'm giving this album 4 stars is because I'm biased when it comes to Boyz II Men. The singing and production is very good and faultless they almost sold me on the terrible song selections but I couldn't change my opinion on that.

Now what Boyz II Men need is to find a bass singer(can you tell I miss Mike)get together with good producers like Jimmy & Terry, Babyface,Daryl Simmons, David Foster and the Underdogs and record some new ballads. I'm itching to hear brand new Boyz II Men because 4 covers albums is a little too much. I would hate to think that the Boyz II Men legacy has been reduced to cover albums. Otherwise enjoy this if you can.

5.0 out of 5 stars another one for Boyz II Men, January 11, 2010
This review is from: Love (Audio CD)
yes, it's another covers album that they've put out. Would like to see a new album of their own material? Of course, i would. But for what's worth "Love" is another very solid covers album done by the group. They are more than able to continue on as just a trio. It would interesting if they decided to go that route and add another member. But it isnt needed as they sing like no tomorrow when needed depending on the song.

It is always heartfelt and moving regardless though. Boyz II Men have doing it for 20 years and that in of itself. Is truly something that most music groups could never achieve. They come together with their different vocal stylings and create what. I'm sure others will agree is an excellent piece of work and they do the original artists/writers justice and pay them much respect. By taking their time in getting the songs right. I love this and can't wait to see what they have in store next.

Boyz II Men for life!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Yet, another amazing album!, March 25, 2010
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Love (Audio CD)
Like the title says, this album is amazing. From the first song to the last, my ears loved it. I was laying in my bed listening to this, and for some of the songs, I would've gotten up and applauded for them, but the position I was in felt too good! And, I got the album that has "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love", which is the reason why I bought it in the first place, and I was wowed by how well the did that song. Also, "Time After Time" was another wowzer! Loved how they added their beautiful harmony to that song, which took it to another level for me. It totally blew me away! I could go on and on here, but I'm too lazy. Still, this was a phenomenal album, and I am so in love with the fact that they covered songs that were outside of the R&B genre, and did them so well, too! In my opinion, this album is a very worthy purchase:)

These young men are superb. I've enjoyed their previous CDS, but this one is smooth, mellow and outstanding. If you've ever heard the song Misty Blue song before, trust me you will forget it - The Boyz II Men's rendition is exceptional.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!, December 15, 2009
This review is from: Love (Audio CD)
I cannot believe some of the reviews I have read here. Boyz II Men has done a wonderful job on this album and for the past week I have owned it I have had "many" people ask me who and what album it was because they wanted to buy a copy. Yes, I agree the boyz have put out a more "cover" albums than most artists normally would, but in "NO WAY" should nor does that take away from this album. If you are a Boyz II Men fan you should buy this album PERIOD! Me and my wife saw them in concert about a month ago and Wanya mentioned that next year is their 20th anniversary and there is a possibility that Michael might tour with them. ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Love, Love Love It!!!, January 18, 2010
This review is from: Love (Audio CD)
I have listened to this CD several times a day everyday since I have had it and I like it more and more. These guys can harmonize the phone book and I would buy it. They took some timeless songs and made them new again. The cd has this amazingly jazzy feel to it and you know that the CD title is perfect cause you can feel the Love. My Favs are:
I Can't Make You Love Me
Misty Blue
Time after Time
Cupid
Shining Star
When I fall in Love &
Back for Good

but don't sleep on the other tracks, they are just as awesome. GET THIS CD!

4.0 out of 5 stars Eric G. Kiura, if I knew who you were, I would high-five you and treat you to lunch!, June 9, 2011
This review is from: Love (Audio CD)
In my opinion, after playing my brother's copy of this, I think Eric hit this review dead on the head! The song selections, well, could only be covered by this trio, because the talent, after close to 20 yrs., has not faltered. These guys still have the harmony to pull off the most mundane of songs and make it more of a pleasurable listening experience. Still, this is the 3rd cover album released, and I think that they deserve better than restructuring someone else's hits. If the record company won't do it, then they are gonna have to take matters into their own hands and do it themselves. Again, this is still one of the premire vocal groups of our time, and I have no doubt that this new cd, when released, will be the saving grace of being trapped in "remakeville".

P.S. Yeah...I do miss Mike too. Come back dude, if you can, and make this thing complete!

I love this CD! There isn't one single song that I don't like or care to hear on it. It's very relaxing to listen to when you are stressed and need to wind down. Michael Bublé is an excellent bonus. Wish he had a couple songs on here with them instead of just one! Definitely recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, February 13, 2011
This review is from: Love (Audio CD)
I have not had the privilege of hearing their other two cover albums, so I'm not really in on the criticism of this being their third. However, I am reviewing this as its own album, regardless of whatever else the group has done over the past two decades.
I picked this album up on a whim. I was in the mood for an album of love songs to get me into the Valentine's spirit, and I hadn't heard any of Boyz II Men's new stuff in quite some time, so the album appealed to me. Simply put, after one listen, I fell in love with it, and after multiple listens, I can honestly say that it's one of the best cover albums I've ever heard.
There are so many things that make this album excellent. First off, the group sounds as good as it's ever sounded. The guys actually sound fuller as a trio than a quartet. (I was afraid the departure of one member would hurt their sound, but, if anything, it has improved it.) The second is the song choices. All the songs are relatively familiar to the average listener. Some may have been overdone throughout the years, but the guys present them in a fresh light. While the group could have stayed with one genre, such as 70's soul hits, and made a more musically consistant album, the guys decided to branch out and incorporate many different styles of songs into the album. I love variety. True, sometimes it can make an album seem less fluid, but that is not the case here. The group tackles pop/rock tunes (like Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" and the Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris"), eighties power ballads (like Chicago's "If You Leave Me Now" and Cyndi Lauper's classic "Time After Time"), and the country smash hit "Amazed" by LoneStar, while returning to their soul roots with the likes of "Misty Blue" and "Shining Star."
The third--and most challenging to accomplish--aspect of this album that makes it great is the outstanding production and arranging. The men can take a song like "I Can't Make You Love Me" and make it completely their own, as if the listener was hearing it for the first time. "Amazed" throws in some excellent harmonies and sounds just as authentic sung by a trio of African-American R&B artists as it does by an unarguably country-western group like LoneStar. The stirring a capella rendition of "Time After Time" sounds remnicent of Take 6 and is one of the most memorable songs on the album. And the groups adaptation of the decades-old "When I Fall In Love" with Michael Buble may very well be one of the best covers of the song ever recorded.
Again, this is a beautiful cover album with some amazing harmonies that's sure to get you and your loved one into the Valentine's spirit. Perfect for playing in the car on the way to a special dinner for two or on a romantic evening alone on the couch with a bottle of wine or a cup of decaf coffee. You won't be disappointed in this album.
A side note...if you enjoy this album, I recommend you check out Vanessa Williams' "Everlasting Love." It's a cover album with concept similar to this one, that's sure to be a Valentine's hit with you and yours as well. :)
