5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, elegant--not for kids.
I've worn primarily green/citrus scents for years--Hugo Boss Woman, Happy to Be--and was very happy with them. I smelled this first on a scent strip and was intrigued; it had the crispness I like in the greener scents, but also a softness I've missed in my scents, an unexpected light musk richness. 2.0 out of 5 stars Great smell, but doesn't stay on.
I love the smell of this perfume. However, it doesn't last. I have been wearing perfume for 18 years now and have used several different kinds without a problem. I was sold by SJP on this perfume when she appeared on Oprah. Loved it when I went to the counter at the mall to check it out. I have been using it for about 2 months now and it just doesn't last. About and hour...

I have weird chemistry & most scents are dicey on me, so I tried this half a dozen times before purchasing, and every time I tried it, I found something new to love. I'm 30--well beyond wishing to smell 'cute'--and this fragrance is exactly what I'm growing into, a scent for a sophisticated woman. It's not old, it's not young; it's mature, and equally appropriate with a sweater and jeans or evening wear. The only scent I bother with anymore. I've had great success with the life of the scent--I put it on at 8am and my husband can still smell it on me at bedtime--but I prefer that it be subtle enough that only a person standing next to me smell it; perhaps some who find it short-lived prefer a bolder scent.

I'm thrilled with Lovely. I don't expect to change perfumes again for years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pooh's review, December 10, 2005
This review is from: Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker for Women, Eau de Parfum, 3.4-Ounce Spray Bottle (Health and Beauty)
I saw on Oprah the intro of LOVELY with Sarah J. Parker. I ordered and was not disappointed. It's very feminine. It's a light scent, but it does leave one wanting another whiff. The bottle is a little tricky to hold but it's a beautiful bottle. I have worn BEAUTIFUL only by Estee Lauder for years, but am now alternating between LOVELY and BEAUTIFUL. I don't think one would be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars The fragrance smells wonderful; as always, test it on your skin and let it blend before buying, July 8, 2007
By
Here's the facts about any type of fragrance. They don't smell the same on everyone. In fact, one of my favorites always smelled like bubble gum on someone else I knew, while it retained a much deeper, sensuous fragrance on me. I've had my share of bad perfume matches so I caution you to test this (or any product) first.

If you happen to like the way it reacts with your unique biochemistry (as I did) then it is well worth getting. I found it was neither overpowering or an imitation of other fragrances out there. It is mildly noticable but not to the point of bothering people. All the comments I got were very positive.

I hesitate to describe WHAT it will smell like to you because of that whole body chemistry thing but I found it to have light floral overtones with some richer, slightly spicy notes in there as well. I would describe it as primarily floral, with an emphasis on fresh, clean and summery.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN ULTRA FEMININE SCENT, October 3, 2005
Is there anyone who doesn't know the name Sarah Jessica Parker? Okay. Think "Carrie" on TV's enormously successful "Sex and the City." She was the gal who dressed to the nines - always with style and glamour. She brings both of those qualities to her first fragrance, "Lovely Sarah Jessica Parker."

It's a unique, almost indescribable blend of classicism, chic, and innocence. There's not a scent like it with top notes of fresh Mandarin, Bergamot, Lavender, and Apple Martini. Vibrant and warm it's a fragrance that caresses the senses.

Middles notes are Patchouli, tender Paper Whites, and luxe Orchid. These are enhanced by bottom notes of irresistible white amber, sensuous cedar, and the very sultry musk. This is a scent I revel in, and enjoy wearing.

The bottle is, of course, simple and exquisite, curved with polished glass, ultra feminine.

Lovely Sarah Jessica Parker is a beautiful, dreamy yet quite alive fragrance appropriate for every occasion.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Scent of a Woman, April 25, 2007
This review is from: Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker for Women, Eau de Parfum, 3.4-Ounce Spray Bottle (Health and Beauty)
Aren't we all just a little sick of smelling like a grocery store? I never could understand all the fruit and vegetable scents and then they came out with vanilla cookie, pumpkin pie, gingerbread...I've gained five pounds just smelling perfumes!

Lovely, on the other hand, is aptly named. It's a beautiful, feminine scent designed for the female that desires an aura of sophistication and beauty. And you won't be mistaken for a fruit salad!

5.0 out of 5 stars Clean and Pretty, May 24, 2006
I first caught a whiff of Lovely when giving one of my classy friends a big hug one day. "What are you wearing?" I asked. "It's the new Lovely," she responded. Being a big SJP fan, I knew exactly what she was talking about. I asked for a 3 piece set for Mothers' Day, and have been wearing this fragrance DAILY ever since.

I don't know why others call it an "old lady's fragrance" because I've loved perfumes all my life, and this suggests nothing of an old lady's fragrance. For that, you need an Estee Lauder's White Linen or Jean Patou's Sublime.

No, Lovely is really a wonderful arrival for perfume lovers. It's light, yes, but refreshing in a world of cloying-sweet, drugged fragrances populating the perfume counters. I would describe Lovely as first, Clean, with a hint of Prettiness. You know the scene in Something's Gotta Give, when the Keanu Reeves character tells the Diane Keaton character that she smells wonderful, and she says "it's just soap." THAT could be Lovely. There IS the lightest whisper of soap. I love it, especially after the shower right after my workout. To me, there is a hint of Lillies of the Valley. Or peppery Lilacs. It's the perfect fragrance for Spring and Summer. I hope they never change the formula; to me, it's JUST RIGHT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Scent, December 29, 2005
This review is from: Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker for Women, Eau de Parfum, 3.4-Ounce Spray Bottle (Health and Beauty)
This is a classic fragrance, not your overpowering J-Lo, B'Spears, etc. I wish I could explain the scent...but it is tough to describe. It isn't fruity or flowery. Perhaps a bit of lavendar though? Basically, you don't overpower a room with it. It has a bit of an "old-world"-ness to it...but as far as I am concerned, that is a wonderful thing. I am a 31 year old professional, I wear it daily and out at night, and I just love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very bright; nice scent, November 21, 2005
By
This is a nice perfume for day or night -- It's not sweet or clinging; it does have a fresh floral underlay, yet it's suitable for nighttime wear. Every time I wear it, someone invaribly says, "you smell good; what do you have on?" It's not overpowering. It seems to last, too; just a few sprays behind the ears is sufficient to keep you going all day. I work with women who are very sensitive to perfumes and this one has never bothered them in the least.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker for Women, Eau de Parfum, 3.4-Ounce Spray Bottle (Health and Beauty)
This is a well-blended, complex, layered fragrance. It is quite heady going on, and you only need to use a very light spritz. It lasted all day without changing character. This is probably because its a parfum spray, not eau de toilette. This sized bottle should last a long time. Perfumes are very subjective, but I really liked the scent. You can still smell a lingering fragrance on your skin after having a shower. Its definitely a classic style rather than contemporary - think Chanel rather than J Lo or Brittney. Overall, I think its one of the best new perfumes out.

I bought this direct from Amazon - great price, and buying direct from Amazon I know I will get the real thing, not a knock-off. I don't have the same confidence in other online stores, whether they sell through Amazon or not. I have bought from some well-known online perfume stores in the past and been sent imitations or old stock - ugh. It has made me very cautious about where I shop. Some fakes are obvious but other ones are very clever and you can only detect the imitation if you are already familiar with the product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely: lovely and delightful, October 2, 2005
I lean toward lighter scents and Lovely doesn't disappoint. It's soft, feminine, quirky and not over the top. Not cloying or overwhelming. It's what I expected of SJP. I bought this two months ago and it's 1/2 done. Great for daytime but can work for evenings too.
