I love Freddie Mercury and I love the music on this CD. What I object to is all this remixing going on and changing the original sound intended by Freddie. I prefer to listen to his music just the way he wrote and performed it. His talent stands on its own. I hesitate to buy these types of CDs, but there are some songs on this CD that were not remixed. I think people need to have the choice of which to buy, the original recordings or the remixes. I would be willing to bet that the original recordings would far outsell the remixed versions. Let's preserve Freddie's music exactly as he recorded and intended it to be. He had the most incredible and beautiful voice and his music was so very unique. Buyer beware, most of this CD are remixed versions, however, I feel it is still worth owning and any Freddie Mercury fan will still want it for their collection. The five stars are for Freddie and his music.

Freddie Mercury was one of the greatest male singers of the twentieth century and this CD showcases his excellent repertoire of music. Plus Amazon sold it at a great price.

Love Freddie's pipes, but find only a few of these songs as pleasing as when he sang with rest of Queen. I bought it, but doesn't add as much to my collection as I'd hoped. Still go back to Radio GaGa, Who wants to live forever, Barcelona, Bohemian Rhapsody, etc.

I love the CDs the music is great however the second CD has the same song in a slower mode, good but get repetitive afte while. I still recomend it the song are classics great great great music!!! ;-)

You can't go wrong with Freddie Mercury. He can sing a song like no one else!

What can I say, if your a Freddie Mercury fan this is a must have. The playful part of his personality really comes out in these videos. It proves that Freddie could sing a wide range of music. A great talent lost too soon.

Freddie at his best! I lost my CDs during a recent move and this is the perfect day to replace them (18th anniversary of his premature passing.)

This cd has everything that any Freddie Mercury fan would want! It has even more than his solo album because it includes some of his early work, and very late work. There is so much passion coming from him in some of these songs it's unbelievable. I previewed the cd before I bought it and it was still even better then what the previews show. The sound quality is amazing and the songs are, by far, some of his very best! A definite must-have for any Freddie fan! :)

Being a queen fan for the past 40 years, there is little I have not already heard by the band and the solo efforts by its members. This collection of Freddie Mercury tunes represents the best he had to offer from his many solo projects away from the band. While most of this material has already been available on previous releases, it is very nice to have it all together on one disc. My main complaint is with the remixes. While some of the remixes are interesting, others are downright lousy. Why tamper with Mercury's musical perfection? How many different ways can you change "Love Kills", which is a masterpiece in its original form? The remixes is what prevented this collection from achieving a five star rating. Still, if you want the best of the best from Mr. Mercury and his career away from Queen this is the collection to have. His operatic ventures will prove a pleasant surprise to many if you have not already heard them on his "Barcelona" release! They demonstrate the magnitude of his vocal prowess!

I absolutely love everything about "Lover of Life, Singer of Songs". I love the packaging, the material, this is the ultimate package for any Freddie Mercury fan. If you really want to get a great dose of his solo work this is the package for you. I highly also recommend the DVD version of "Lover of Life, Singer of Songs" they are two gems I proudly own in my Queen/Freddie Mercury collection. "In My Defence" and "Time" have to be my two favorite Freddie solo songs. "Time" was definitely meant for Freddie, "Time waits for no one". It makes me sad to hear him sing that today, knowing what small amount of time he had left after recording "Time". The pure power of "In My Defence" you can feel Freddie through every word of the song as he was feeling it when he recorded the song. (I prefer "In My Defence" in my car with my Mach stereo system cranked to 11). What a voice, Freddie Mercury, we lost a great one way too early. But thank goodness we have packages like this one that Freddie will live forever.
