I tried to like it but...,

I really just couldn't get into it. I am a huge fan of Tiger and the Duke and was anticipating this album highly. When i first listened to it I was dissapointed. I found it slow and uninteresting in some parts. So I tried listening to it numerous times and while I can listen to some tracks I tend to skip over many and get bored. Is this album artsy? Yes. Do they have talent? Yes. But it just isn't my taste.

Ive been reading the reviews for Lover, the Lord Has Left Us and I was pretty surprised. I realize that the album is on a different plane then what many are used to, with the chanting and the seemingly displaced "noise". But to call it pretentious is a little harsh. Sure TSOAF are trying to create something new, but they are decently cutting-edge. To be pretentious, TSOAF has to consist of charlatans who are trying to be something that theyre not. So how can you tell that this isnt the REAL TSOAF? You cant. Their discography is meager in amount and to judge this band on how theyre supposed to sound by an 8 track, 4 song ep is just an irresponsibly bad assumption, and we all know what happens when you assume. This album is just another art effort by TSOAF and I truly respect them for being different. So why dont people like the album? Because its nothing like The Tiger and the Duke. Dont get me wrong, I love that album, but how can someone call TTATD a creative voyage through music and experimentation and LTLHLU pretentious? If anything, TSOAF have found themselves deep within the forest that they began to explore on their first album. What did you expect, another TTATD? Why would you want a band as artistic, creative, and daring as TSOAF to remain on the same platform when they obviously have the wings to ascend? According to many, the only way for TSOAF to be original is to stick to their old sound. Oxymoronic? Id like to think so. TSOAF is without doubt different. Their individuality, although strived for, is not an act. I would recommend this album the same way I would recommend Omar A. Rodruiguez Lopez, or Godspeed! You Black Emperor, or the Mahavishnu Orchestra (I am by no means comparing these artists, just stressing their individuality) LTLHLU is unique. Find an album like it and you deserve a medal. In the meantime, listen to this album, just dont expect ANYTHING.P.S. Cove Reber isnt even in TSOAF, thank god.

Experimental always means one thing, don't judge too soon...,

So I like many others here... jumped to the same conclusion after giving Lover, The Lord Has Left Us a listen. This isn't Tiger and the Duke... this is totally different, awkwardly different even. Immediately I was dissappointed because it did'nt have the same "rock out" portions like Tiger and The Duke... nor much to sing a long with. The mistake was that I gave up on the album after one listen. After about3 or 4 I started to pick out some of the beauties of the album... the creativity... the (although slow at times) flow from song to song... and the feeling of hearing a modern day jam session come to life. Do yourself a favor, listen to it... but listen to it without expecting more of the same. If you really think about it, experimental music is supposed to be different...fresh...brand new, not cookie cutter or repeat. This is definitely neither of those two. An open mind will reveal some love for this ...

Ok so I started listening to "Tiger and The Duke" andpersonaly I thought it was brilliant. The bands they the members are in are a joke compared to TSOAF. It completely astonished me. So a few months later I hear of "Lover, The Lord Has Left Us" and i'm intreguied, from the reviews on myspace and their website. I did download the cd first, and I was shocked. Shocked in a good way; therefore saying this cd is brilliant. It is nothing compared to TATD. You cannot compare these cd's because they are two different pieces of art in two different catagories. OMG I HATE IT BECAUSE ANTHONY GREEN IS ONLY IN TWO SONGS!!!!. If I hear thatone more time i'll choke a bitch. This is art, this is inspiration, this is music in a pure form. It's not sugar coated, it's free thinking minds producing a brilliant album. It's hard to get into for some but for others, this album will leave a mark in music history. Highlights: Skullflower My Horse Must Lose Stockhausen Es Ist Ihr Gehirn Das Ich Suche This Heat Horses In The SKy Heretic Be prepaired scene kids, your beautiful bands are becomming smart and not relying on fashion anymore.

So ever since this cd has came out I've seen kids saying a bunch of different things about it.In my opinion if you say it's a horrible, you must be pretty close minded. yeah when I first heard TSOAF was coming out with CD I expected another high energy crazy rip my face off CD but what I got was a frickin' masterpiece. The worst way to listen to this cd is close minded. TSOAF was defiantly going for something different and they the only ones so far that can pull of something. Kids, I swear you complain when a band goes mainstream or is even mentioned on MTV. but when something comes out different you think it's too much. this CD is by far one of thee best CDs I've heard so far.listen to it open mindedly. This CD is glorious but you have to listen to it not just judge it because it's different than other bands.

i was really excited to go out and get this cd. i thought, ok a collaboration between anthony green and days away and other undergound artists. what could be better? well, im not saying this cd is bad at all, its not. i enjoy alot of it. but the thing is i find myself having to skip random tracks of noise and foreign languages. and theres nothin wrong with filler tracks with effects, but i think those tracks couldve been done better. there are some tracks on here that approching beautiful, something that isnt uncommon when it comes to anthony green. tracks like THE HERETIC, THIS HEAT, ST. BROADRICK IS IN ANTARTICA, HORSES IN THE SKY are amazing and make up for the sketchier tracks. im all for experimental and they definitly do it here. im lovin the days away, it really puts this cd from decent to good. im not gonna call this cd pretentious per se but it does get alittle taxing at times. i would recommend circa survive or days aways album before this one, then after move onto TSOAF.

First off I want to say that this album isnt a scam to make money as one person had put it. If it was they would have just kept the same formula as the last album and probobly would have many more people picking up the album. As everyone should know TSAOF is just a side project of many bands and that they are doing this for fun to see how far they can push the musical envelope. I for one am one of those people who are into different sounds. I knew this album was going to be totally different from the first one, not by hearing the demos but hearing the talk of it over the internet and reading the interviews with some of the band members. Im am totally glad that i have bought this album. It barely leaves my cd player and i listen to it probobly 2 or more times at work. The musical style on this cd is just way out there but thats what I like about it. The vocals and harmonies are just amazing. Like many people who have said. This album isnt for anyone but if you are into things that are totally different than anything you have heard before I suggest picking this album up.

Different, that's for sure,
This review is from: Lover the Lord Has Left Us (Dig) (Audio CD)
This CD is strange. It is completely different than anything I've ever heard before, yet I find myself starting it over each time the final track ends.Lover, The Lord Has Left Us is nothing like The Tiger and the Duke, but somehow that makes it better. It wouldn't have been appropriate for this band to release a CD that sounded the same has their debut. There are a good deal of filler tracks that some reviewers will write off as "noize." Like they are the first band to use fillers? Pink Floyd anyone? The Mars Volta? What this band is doing has been done before, they just happen to be doing it their own way. I appreciate that about them. The only thing keeping this CD from getting 5 stars is the lack of CD jacket/booklet. I look forward to seeing the art, the thanks, the lyrics. It would've been nice to have a translation of the Sanskrit as well. Other than that, a great listen.

Lover, the Lord Has Left Us, is one of the best cds I own and was worth every penny. It cannot be classified into any specific genre, it's just completely unique and a masterpiece. I listen to it all the time and I love it more each time. This cd wasn't just a bunch of sounds thrown together. This is a cd that, if you don't like it at first, give it a few more listens because you need to appreciate how musically talented each member of the band is and how refreshing it is to hear something completely unique.

I am a big fan of Circa Survive and Chiodos, two bands which lends their talents to this release in one form or another, among may others. Anthony Green and Craig Owens are a couple of the best vocalists in the rock scene these days, and they do their jobs well on this album...but no one else does. I was very excited to see this album released, as I had been waiting for it since The Tiger And The Duke. But this is just weird, rhythmless, grating noise for the most part. Every song (or at least it seemed) is more or less beeps and bangs with some annoying girl doing some sandskrit chanting, and every once in a while, they'll have a rock-ish breakdown. Then, back to more of the bleep-bloop-bleep. There are a couple exceptions (The Heretic being one of them), but for the most part, this CD is almost unlistenable. If you are looking to expand your musical horizons, go get the new Mars Volta CD, Amputecture. Far superior in every way, and completely devoid of sandskrit chanting.
