It was great . . . until the catalyst behind her metamorphoses appeared on the sunny Hawaiian beach looking for her. Trevor Langdon had mercilessly used Reyna to salvage his brother-in-law's company when Reyna began corporate overthrow of the small firm. And, Reyna let him. She had loved him and given him exactly what he wanted from her - at the cost of her career, her self-esteem, and very nearly her soul.

Now, Trevor has come to regain what he cast away thoughtlessly earlier. Six months has passed, and Trevor realizes what Reyna had offered him - what he had ruthlessly deemed unimportant - her love.

This alpha male has reconsidered his position and finds that Reyna is worth any cost. Trevor is clearly out of his league when it comes to relaxing vacations in Hawaii and actually demonstrating love, but the poor guy is persistence, committed, and willing to sacrifice whatever required to win Reyna back. Trevor's unique character combines the best of the alpha hero we expect from JAK, while showing readers that men can be considerate, caring, and contrite.

Reyna's approach to life is quite admirable. She knows how to succumb to love, sacrifice, and survive. This heroine is a passionate match for her erstwhile hero, and she never backs down from a challenge.

A couple of common themes to look for gourmet food, good wine, solitary characters with very centered worlds, and commitment tempered with loyalty. No surprises here, but JAK always delivers the story to back her thematic considerations.

I particularly enjoyed this read. Watching Trevor grovel, plead, and generally suffer over his stupidity made my day. Can't beat an alpha male with a conscience! This novel is quite representative of the Silhouette Desire line. There is a great deal of steamy, passionate sex entwined within a classic lost-love plot. This book was released in 1982 and does reflect the 80s in clothing, social attitude, and different sexual standards. The setting makes me long for an umbrella in a rum-filled pineapple. This book may be a bit difficult to locate, but it is well worth the search. Lover in Pursuit is a great addition to any romance collection.
