5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!
I only knew the song "Lovergirl" when I purchased this album, and boy was I in for a surprise! Teena Marie is one of the most talented performers there is, and this album showcases some of her brightest moments from her Epic affiliation. "Just Us Two" gets you into the album, and the sweeping, operatic vocal stylings of "Ooh La La La"...

I only knew the song "Lovergirl" when I purchased this album, and boy was I in for a surprise! Teena Marie is one of the most talented performers there is, and this album showcases some of her brightest moments from her Epic affiliation. "Just Us Two" gets you into the album, and the sweeping, operatic vocal stylings of "Ooh La La La" show Marie's incredible range. Particularly engaging songs include the soulful tribute to Marvin Gaye "My Dear Mr. Gaye," the classic-soul sound of ballad "Dear Lover," and, as a fitting conclusion to the album, the beautiful jazzy torch song "Casanova Brown." As the last note of this song fades away, you feel like you have come back to reality from some other dimension. This album is definitely worth it, whether you are a curious listener (like I was) or a diehard fan (like I am now). Go "Out On A Limb" and purchase this album for some great music!

5.0 out of 5 stars great piece of work., July 26, 1999

5 stars for the baddest white girl that ever recorded music! In the age of over production and sampled R&B hits- Teena gives us real music. The woman gives her all in ever song. You feel the emotions of ever word. I just want to know when is Teena going to give us some new stuff. Hopefully she can work with Rick James again and show all these other cats how to produce a real ablum.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you're a music fan, buy this CD!!!, March 31, 1999

This CD is awesome. When I was growing up, my sisters used to listen to Teena Marie all of the time. I never really listened to her all that much, but I liked a couple of songs that she did, such as "Ooh La La La" and "Lovergirl". I purchased this CD just for the 12 inch version of "Ooh La La La", but after listening to such ballads as "Casanova Brown" and "Dear Lover", mixed with the thumpin' "Sugar Shack" and the tribute to the late Marvin Gaye, it was apparant that this CD was going to be my favorite. Now I know why my older siblings were so infatuated with this soulful, sultry singer. I'm hooked!! Get this CD. GET THIS CD!!!!!! - Friendly neighborhood bass player in Philly

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW !!!!, January 21, 2004

All I can say is WOW. I never knew that Teena Marie was a mix of Ella Fitzgerald, Phyllis Hyman, Sade and Toni Braxton only more passionate, more soulful and more talented than them all. Her ballads transport you to a pensive, emotive realm where she guides you through her own universe and then carries you back to reality yearning for more. Teena's music is nothing short of brilliant. The way she communicates a soul weeping on "Casanova Brown" is musical genius. GET THIS CD. Your current favorites will soon seem lacking and unimaginative

This is the first Teena Marie album I heard, and it is one of my favorites. I bought it because I had heard Dear Lover on a compilation album and fell in love with her voice. This has so many amazing songs, like Ooh La La La, Dear Lover (of course), but all of the songs are amazing. A definite must have if you are a Teena fan.

Heck, what can I say? Baby girl put her foot inta "Out On A Limb". A few years back, I heard her remake of Linda Jones' "Hypnotized" which is equally awe inducing.

This CD is good quality. For those of you just getting into the music of the incomparable Teena Marie this CD has a great mixture of her earlier work. R.I.P. my sweet Lady Tee. I grew up listening to your sounds and I hope to be around to hear the sounds of your daughter Alia Rose a.k.a. Rose La Beau!
