4.0 out of 5 stars They just keep going and going and going
Tragic deaths, drug episodes, internal controversies, nothing stops this great American treasure called the Temptations. They like that annoying bunny, just keep going and going and going, but they are far from annoying. This is a great CD in many ways. Number one, the vocals are fantastic, and the arrangements are phenominal. This CD, made after the death of Bass Singer...

3.0 out of 5 stars Some Fantastic Interpretations by The Temptations
Mood setting love music seems to be the purpose of this CD. Ollie Woodson's lead on "I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face", is awesome; no slacking in the backing on the this cut either. Check out Otis Williams "drop the groove" intro to the bouncy Ron Tyson led "Time After Time," which the Tempts sings as only they can. The wistful, romantic,...

This CD, made after the death of Bass Singer Melvin Franklin shows the grit and determination to continue in the face of adversity that America loves. The opening cut "Some Enchanted Evening" is by far the best version ever done of this song. It starts with some haunting harmonies and then has Ollie Wodson and Theo exchanging lead vocals with a level of emotion that is convincing. Night and Day was good enough to make the sound track of What Women Want - I have to version of the CD that was released prior to the movie and it sounds the same to me inspite of what one reviewer would have you believe. If you are a Temptations fan from the early days this CD is for you. If you are a skeptic and believe the group is dead, check out this CD. I am amazed at this group's tenacity. They just keep going and going and going......

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Wonderful!, June 4, 2001
This review is from: For Lovers Only (Audio CD)
I purchased this CD after watching "What Women Want." The Temptations' version of "Night and Day" is the best ever! But what a great purchase -- every single on here is absolutely great!

5.0 out of 5 stars A definite MUST have for any real music fan!, June 1, 2004

As a true lover of music, both as a musician and as a fan, I rate this albulm as not only one of the best Temptation recordings ever, but possibly one of the best recordings ever. Period! The Temptations are almost as famous for their many different line-ups as they are for their tight harmonies, and the line-up for this particular album is unique to this recording only. There is also an emotinal and fitting tribute to the amazing Melvin Franklin, who's last ever vocal performance is contained in the haunting "Life Is But a Dream".

BUY THIS CD! Thankfully, unlike the old LP's, it won't wear out, because you WILL play it over and over and over and over....

This is by far one of the most romantic soul CD's I own. The ballad "Some Enchanted Evening" is a favorite in most over 30's jazz clubs, and hearing this song brings me to tears. There isn't a bad song on the CD, and if you love the old classic songs this is the cd for you. I have made several copies for my male friends who want to romance some special lady. My special male friend also loves the cd because of the romance value and he is an avid temptations fan. I highly recommend it, and considering someone stole my first copy out of my convertible I was just happy to find a new copy on Amazon!

Only the Tempts could take classic songs, add a dash of soul and make them their own. This is a great CD that shows a different side of this legendary group. My favorites are "Nite and Day" and "For Your Love/You Send Me" each led by Theo Peoples (Nite and Day), Otis Williams and Ollie Woodson (For Your Love/You Send Me) respectively. Any fan of the Tempts must add this one to their collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars FOR ROMANTICS ONLY, July 31, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: For Lovers Only (Audio CD)
ON A RECENT VACATION TO ST BARTH'S, WHERE MY HUSBAND AND I PACKED OUR OWN FAVORITE SELECTION OF CD'S TO LOUNGE POOLSIDE WITH, WE DISCOVERED FOR LOVER'S ONLY IN THE VILLA COLLECTION. NEEDLESS TO SAY WE LISTENED TO IT MANY TIMES EACH DAY OF OUR 2 WEEKS. WE FOUND IT GREAT TO LISTEN TO OVER A FRESHLY BAKED CROISSANT AND COFFEE. WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES WAS OUR BREAKFAST FAVORITE. IT SET THE TONE FOR THE DAY SO THAT WE COULD DECIDE WHICH POOLSIDE LOUNGE WE WOULD OCCUPY. AT LUNCH WE WOULD LISTEN TO THE ENTIRE CD TWICE OVER WHILE WE GOURGED ON FRENCH CHEESES, BREADS AND OF COURSE A BOTTLE OF ROSE. THIS CD ALSO IS THE PREFECT BACKROUND MUSIC TO LULL YOURSELF AND YOUR LOVER INTO AN AFTERNOON NAP AFTER THE LUNCH FEAST. COCKTAIL HOUR WAS MADE MORE ROMANTIC WITH THE TEMPS AS WE DANCED POOLSIDE TO NIGHT AND DAY AND I'M GLAD THERE IS YOU. OFF TO DINNER(UNFORTUNATELY NO CD PLAYER IN THE RENTAL CAR) BUT WE ALWAYS CAME HOME TO SOME ENCHANTED EVENING. THANK YOU TEMPTATIONS FOR PUTTING SO MUCH MORE ROMANCE INTO AN ALREADY SPECTACULAR HOLIDAY!

Smooth listening to some classic romantic tunes. The Temps give a slight R&B twist to the songs so you'd never know that "Some Enchanted Evening" was from "South Pacific" or another tune from "My Fair Lady." Wonderful harmony and tranquility. Voices are excellent and give the music its due respect.

Only the smooth silky voices of the Temptations be it the originals or the voices of today can take yesterday's love ballards and classics and make them popular.
The rich harmony of the Temps will make you remember the songs as if it was yesterday, their style bring them into today and your children will want to play them tomorrow. Every song is a master piece of love and hard work.

You can only wish that they will do another CD of such classics.

This review is from: For Lovers Only (Audio CD)
This set of extraordinary romantic songs represents why the Temptations has been and still remains as the best R&B Group in history. All selections as well as performing are excellent, so this album is undoubtedly a great one for listening everytime and everywhere. Enjoy it....
