This is definitely my favorite boxed calendar. I am a devoted reader, but have only so much time to check out what is new and interesting. And I am not fond of trolling through big box bookstores trying to find something. This calendar has 365 brief reviews of books of all kinds, most of which I have never heard of, and probably would not have considered reading without a recommendation. The reviews are concise, often funny and informative. And it is a plus that I can (and do!) recycle the torn off pages of the calendar for scratch paper.

The Book Lover's Page-A-Day Calendar is a great calendar for book lovers. Each day features a review of a book. It's great for book reading ideas and gift ideas. The calendar itself is a wonderful gift for book lovers.

Every bookworm and booklover on your list deserves this special book a day calendar. At least once a week, you will find a title that you haven't heard of - but the minute you read about it in the calendar, you want to read it. This calendar may just be the next best thing to a gift box full of brand new books that a booklover can get.

Do you subscribe to the adage that there is no frigate like a book? Do you know what subjects attract you, but are frequently unacquainted with some of the latest published works about such things? If so, then the Page-a-Day Book Lover's Calendar of 2008 is for you. Each and every day for 365 days, you will be treated to a concise but informative synopsis of a book. Subjects can be fiction or non-fiction, and cover everything from serious scientific discoveries to biographies to pulp fiction. The Calendar itself is a mere 5 1/2 by 6 inches oblong, and can fit nicely on any desk without being obtrusive. A world of exciting knowledge and adventure wait for you each time you tear off a page. Enjoy!

Disappointment,
This review is from: The Book Lover's Page-A-Day Calendar 2007 (Page-A-Day Calendars) (Calendar)
This is a blurb-ridden substitute for the old version of Book Lover's Page-A-Day calendar. In the old days, 2004, you actually got summaries and critical analysis of the books reviewed. In this latest version you get nothing but superficial quotes from USA Today, People Magazine and Entertainment Weekly. The previous calendars gave you reasons to seek out the books they reviewed. The drivel in this year's calendar has created a negative reaction to both the books and authors. We miss the fun of starting the day with a new discovery.

Have been "reading" this calendar for years, and have read several of the titles recommended through it. There's no time like this present.

Two other daily calendars (Christmas presents) weren't worth turning the page, so more than two months into the new year, I found a copy of the Book Lovers Page-A-Day calendar and finally am back to checking it every day. Now again, I'm generating lists of books I want to read, of books to give as gifts, and of books to suggest to friends.

This is my favorite calendar. Each day has an interesting book suggestion. I keep up with the latest books and read book reviews. However, many of the books described in this calendar are new to me. I have found some real gems amoung the suggestions in this calendar over the years.
