I M SORRY MY ENGLICH IS SO BED THAT'S WHY I CANNOT WRITE M.TH , SO HASNI IS THE BEST OF THE RAY MUSIC. I HAVE 15 YEARS LISSENING TO HASNI

if just you can understand really you'll see that HASNI was and still forever the BEST , just he hadn't enough time to great celebrity but he is ours ... he is the BEST .

His voice is finer than Khaled's in it's twisting around emotion. The arrangements are complex, highly syncopated - often with a samba feel.
So much more the tragedy of his demise - when religious zealots steal music (the true religion) from our needy souls.
This is a good starting palce to explore Rai, since it's not as pop as some of the bigger names but very danceable.

Cheb Hasni was to be the torch bearer of rai after Khaled before he was mercilously gunned down in his native Algeria. This event ineluctably has given his music an increased resonance, especially songs such as "Don't cry this my destiny" which contains an out-of-this-world synthesizer motif. "I still have the souvenir" is another outstanding track, and never have I heard a vocal style imitate so vividly the torment of memory and love. The only negatives of the album are its unevenness and the quality of the recording; the latter is, of course, not surprising since Hasni, like many other rai artists, recorded masters directly onto cassette tapes.

I love this cd. It covers some of his best years in the 80's and early 90's. The melancholy, the sad beauty in his voice is chilling but gently so.

All cheb Hasni`s songs evolve around one woman,some times she`s blond(bayda) and others tanned (zarga).Hasni`s songs come in the forme of rymed lyrics and poemes spiced with love to the extent of crasiness(mousiba)and the end of life .
The love or MOUSIBA has not only inspired hasni`s artistic side but has given him something more sacred,his son ABD ALLAH.
to tell the truth.Hasni`s songs are the lyrics of millions of north maghrebian youth.the fact which makes HAsni not only the spokes man of these youth but the king of RAI.

This is Hasni's first CD for America. It will be, unfortunately his last as he was killed by fundamentalists in Algeria. Lyrics talk of love, real and forbidden. Nice grooves for a party or kicking back with your honey... great voice and piano work.
