5.0 out of 5 stars A must have in any good CD collection, October 30, 2006
By
This review is from: Lovers Requiem (Audio CD)
This is the band to watch for in 2007. Their newest release will draw you in from the first note all the way to the very end and will have you coming back for more. The blending of the instruments complimented by the violin is genius. Steve has a powerful voice, with Kerith's soothing tone brings it all together nicely. If you are a fan of A.F.I., HIM, Nightwish or Lacuna Coil then you will definately love I Am Ghost.

4.0 out of 5 stars When From First To Last and Escape The Fate combines...., February 9, 2007
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Lovers Requiem (Audio CD)
From First To Last and Escape The Fate are both dark music, asnd when combines, it'll make music that is a lot darker and more depressing than ever! I Am Ghost sometimes sounds like Aiden but better vocals and better instruments. And who says that Kerith is a better singer than Steve?! Hell no! Steve is a terrific singer! Everybody shouldtry to listen to this band.

Tracks I love:

"Our Friend Lazarus Sleeps" 11/10- This song had a nice beginning, great chorus and had catchy guitars/opera part around the middle. And watch their music video!

"Killer Likes Candy" 10/10- This had a nice beginning and an addicting chorus for me. But this does have a weird song title.

"Dark Carnival Of The Imaculate" 11/10- A nice beginning, a kick-a**, addicting chorus! Love it!

"Lover's Requiem" 10/10- This song started off with some drumming and had such beautiful chorus, loved how Kerith sang there... but not as good as Steve.

"Ship Of Pills And Needed Things" 12/10- This had a little trumpet in the beginning, this song definetly had the speed and the singing. This is the best of all!!

Those are all the tracks that i think mare the best! "Crossing The River Styx" was like an intro, "The Denouement" was useless, and I don't understand why "This Is Home" is getting really famous of this band?! What's so good about it? But still.... this is a good album! GET THIS!!! And check out the band Escape The Fate!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best releases of 2006, December 23, 2006
This review is from: Lovers Requiem (Audio CD)
I Am Ghost is probably one of the most underrated bands out there today. It's a pity, because good music is what the industry needs these days. With their debut album, I Am Ghost shows that they are quite unique compared to the large number of other emo/punk bands out there. Stand out tracks are "Killer Likes Candy," "Pretty People Never Lie, Vampires Never Really Die," "This Is Home," and "Beyond the Hourglass." Every song is 5 star, but these, especially "This Is Home" are the best of the best. I like the direction they're going in, and look forward to more music from them.

I'd recommend this band for anyone who likes My Chemical Romance, AFI, Lacuna Coil, Evanescence or HIM.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Only the lonely can know what it feels to decay.", February 6, 2008

(VINE VOICE)
This review is from: Lovers Requiem (Audio CD)
I am not normally a fan of bands like AFI or My Chemical Romance but I'd always had a strange curiosity when it came to I Am Ghost and those good feelings really paid off because I was not at all disappointed in their first full-length album. LOVERS' REQUIEM is a welcome change for me and I find myself liking it more and more each time I listen to it, and I've been listening non-stop for about a week now. The lead vocals are greatly done by Steve whose vocals are neither too harsh nor feminine, combining mostly clean vocals in with the ocassional scream. Those in turn are nicely balanced by Kerith's female vocals which immediately bring to mind Lacuna Coil. I also like the subtle inclusion of the violin mixed in with their blend of metal, post-punk, and gothic rock riffs. There's even a few moments of baroque Latin choral flourishes that make this band stand out from its peers as being unafraid of experimenting "outside the box", and I hope they continue down this path rather than conforming to the masses.

It's actually very hard for me to pick favorites because they're all really good but I do tend to play "Of Masques and Martyrs", "Lovers' Requiem", "We Are Always Searching", and "Beyond The Hourglass" quite profusely.

I Am Ghost is definitely a band to watch out for, and they are not to be compared by those less worthy of such praise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Really A Kid, February 6, 2007
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Lovers Requiem (Audio CD)
Because I have not purchased an item with my card, I'll have to use the Kid's review instead. Anyway on with the review. Lover's Requiem is a very intense album with plenty of potential. I like how the band is progressing from their EP. While I can appreciate Him and Lacuna Coil's sound, I find them to be very different from I Am Ghost. For example, while HIM tends to have a slower gothy, melo sound to their style, I Am Ghost has more intensity and force behind their music. Also their aren't many bands out their with a duo that melts as well as the singers of this group does. Although some the songs sound similar rythemically-wise, they include enough distinctive riffs and breaks to make each song unique. While some might disagree with my reviews, I absolutely love this band.

Crossing The River Styx - Can't really rate a into can I? It does well enough for an intro. It has a lot of synthesizers in it and it leads into the album well enough. NA/10

Our Friend Lazarus Sleeps - Good opening song. Catchy chorus. However, a little too catchy. It gets old after a while. Good use of the violin. Sets the mood of the album. 7.5/10

Killers Like Candy - Good harmony between singers. Love how they go back and forth. Better than the opener. 8/10

Dark Carnival of the Immaculate - about after 30 seconds of opening sounds they begin the song. Didn't like much at first. It grew on me though. 7.5/10

Pretty People Never Lie... - not much to say, other than that it's a good song. 8/10

Of Masques and Martyrs - probably my second-least favorite song. At times in the song, the main singer's voice sounds like Fall Out Boy. Too much synthesizer. 6/10

Lovers Requiem - Title song. Really good song. 9/10

We are Always Searching - Title song from the previous album. Like the electric violin opening. 8.5/10

The Ship of Pills and Needed Things - Like Lazarus, i really liked this song at first. It got old though in my opinion, better than Lazarus. 8.5/10

The Denouement - Some might disagree with me, but this one was a yawn. I tried putting myself through it and couldn't. Least favorite by far. 4/10

FAVORITE TWO SONGS

This is Home - this is the reason why I got into I Am Ghost. Kerith takes the lead singer spot and takes the band to another level. Seriously, she should totally sing more often. She has a very emotional and beautiful voice. Sick Solo. Tied for number 1 spot on the album. Friggin EPIC as hell. 100/10

Beyond the Hourglass - Used in pictures in this page of our beating heart...SAVE HER FROM ALL THE EVIL THAT WE DO!!!...What an amazing song. Really took my breath away. Much longer solo than the previous song, which is by no means a bad thing. When I first heard it, it fit the song so well, I never wanted the song to end. I can't wait to see them live. 200/10

Well that's it. do the band a favor and buy their cd. They deserve it. I Am Ghost is an amazing band. It doesn't matter what you're in to. They're so good, they become an exception to anyone's cd collection who say they don't listen to this genre of music. While some say they fall into Gothic rock or emo rock. I find that they are alittle bit of both with a bit of Prog flair and a hint of punk rock. The album is a great one, and i definetely look forward to future releases.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Lovers' Requiem That The Rock Kingdom Will Follow, January 8, 2011
By

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Lovers Requiem (Audio CD)
I first found I Am Ghost when I was flipping through Youtube videos. Killer Likes Candy caught my ear VERY quickly. After that, I was itching to hear more. And the rest of the album didn't disappoint.

My first impression of I Am Ghost was one of utter fascination and disbelief: they were great! I could not believe that I stumbled upon such a great set of vocals and skillful instrumentation. The vocals are reminiscent of H.I.M. (a bit of Sum 41 in there) and My Chemical Romance with a playing style like Bullet for My Valentine and Breaking Benjamin.

The best songs are at the beginning of the album (my opinion obviously), but all the songs rate at least 4 stars. That's a much better rating than I give to most mainstream artists.

Lovers' Requiem is THE album that the Rock Kingdom will follow and I Am Ghost is the band that only could have emerged from the Rabbit Hole. They're candy shop of poison that no rocker should pass without taking an enticed look inside.

5.0 out of 5 stars An orchestral masterpeice, August 18, 2008
This review is from: Lovers Requiem (Audio CD)
Many people compare this band to others such as AFI and MCR, but to me that's like saying a gun is the same as a stick because they can both be considered weapons. I Am Ghost's music is so much more complex and beautifully orchestrated that either of those bands. Here's my take on each song.

Crossing the River Styx: Could be considered a filler opening, but I think it sets the haunting theme of the album nicely. The female singer's seemingly far away high notes are breathtaking. (8/10)

Our Friend Lazarus Sleeps: This is the song that introduced me to this band. I heard it on a Warped Tour cd and thought, "This is what it's like to be in a tornado." Maybe not quite like that, but this song is incredibly intense and fast-paced. It's like a roller coaster ride, complete with sharp turns, jerks, and drops. (9/10)

Killer Likes Candy: Another great song. The duet parts are especially nice to hear. (8.5/10)

Dark Carnival of the Immaculate: This song has a weird, spooky carnival into that blends into another intense number. However, for some reason I find this song to be the least distinguished on the album. (8/10)

Pretty People Never Lie, Vampires Never Really Die: This is another intense song that's really catchy.

Of Masks and Martyrs: One of my favorite songs. A song is only as great as the sum of its parts, and each part is amazing. (10/10)

Lover's Requiem: The title track of the album is also one of my favorites. The female vocalist does a great job on the chorus here. (10/10)

We Are Always Searching: An incredibly catchy song with a violin riff that won't soon leave your head, this remake won't disappoint. (9/10)

The Ship of Pills and Needed Things: The first time I listened to the album, this was the standout song to me. The horns in the intro and the rest of the song as well were very catchy and infectious. However, I think this is the song that people will tire of first. (8/10)

The Denouement: Many people don't like this song, but I think its a worthy instrumental that leads into the softer side of the album. (8/10)

This is Home: Showcases the female vocalist's talents, and is one of the best and most emotional on the album. (9.5/10)

Beyond the Hourglass: There are parts of this song that I love, and there are parts I can't wait to listen to again. This song is absolutely awesome, and makes an amazing closer unless.... (10/10)

The Malidiction: ...you get the japanese version of the album, which ends with this incredibly emotional and moving song. The most memorable of the bunch. (10/10)

Buy this cd.

This review is from: Lovers' Requiem (MP3 Download)
I ve been listening to these guys since we are always searching came out, took a chance on that one and have really been pleased with them since. Not quite sure why anyone would call them an AFI cover band, AFI influenced sure but.... honestly decemberunderground dosent qualify as real AFI either so lets not point fingers at who's a sell out.
