This title song of the film House of Flying Daggers is performed by the world renowned American lyric coloratura soprano Kathleen Battle. She was the star singer of the Metropolitan Opera, until she was dismissed from the company in a much-publicized "artistic dispute" in 1992. Her detractors called her a difficult and temperamental prima donna, but her adoring fans loved her nonetheless. After she left the Met, she made numerous albums and performed in many concert tours. Her repertoire during this period included many crossover pops. This recording is a good example. It is melodic and lyrical, carried forth by the beautiful operatic voice of one of the world's top sopranos. The music was composed by the Japanese composer Shigeru Umebayashi, who scored numerous films, including the House of Flying Daggers.

See my comment below for the lyrics of the song.
