This is a remarkable book, especially if you are in the healthcare industry or have worked with people who have difficult psychosocial problems. In these stories, the reader follows Dr. Yalom as a guide while each patient takes the journey of looking inward, examining the unconsious, the complextities of human nature, and in doing so exposes his own raw humanity. What really stood out to me about this book was in how much detail one can examine his or her own life and in contrast how little we often do that in day to day life. Dr. Yalom's stories also highlight the meaning and the effect of how doing so can be transformational. I highly recommend this book to any physician or psychologist and even to those lay people who may consider themselves a searher.
