I'm currently writing the third book in my Georgian series. (I've plotted four.) "Love's Guardian" is the first in the series. For those of you who have read "Love's Guardian," you'll recognize Morgan as Declan's charming, Irish friend, and the hero in my current work in progress - "Morgan's Folly." Morgan thinks he understands people, and knows what's best for them. Too bad he has trouble applying his considerable wit and wisdom to his own life. His easygoing manner vanishes when he meets Lily - a woman who has done the unforgivable.

About the Author

          "Once Upon a Time" are four of Dawn's favorite words. Her love of story became a love of romance when she read Georgette Heyer's, Devil's Cub. It inspired her to write stories with strong characters that discover love is never easy, but always worthwhile. Dawn's written several award-winning novels set in Georgian England - an era filled with rules and intrigue. Her characters often defy "Society" as they pursue love, run away, pursue, run away - well, you get the idea.  
          Then again, she might write romance in order to do the research. What other profession encourages you to sit in the audience at Harlequin's Male Model search, and take notes, or just sigh?
           Dawn lives in a Victorian home in Upstate New York with her husband and very independent cats. When she's not writing, she's singing, gardening, learning to play the harp or wood carving.

Alex Kendrick's life takes a dark turn when her beloved grandfather dies. But things quickly go from bad to worse when she discovers he appointed a guardian for her. Why would he chose Declan Deveraux, Earl of Worthington, the man she resents for turning her life upside down once before?

The Earl, however, wants to get Alex married off as quickly as possible. Because he likes her. And Declan has no intention of getting involved with a woman he likes. He wants a wife he could never fall in love with, so he chooses a spoiled, self-centered woman as a prospective bride.

Little does Declan know Alex has other ideas--and they include him. Can she change his mind about marrying for love?

I thoroughly enjoyed Love's Guardian. Dawn Ireland has written a rich, enjoyable story with characters you'll remember for a long time. Rapier-wielding Alex is an independent, strong woman who knows what she wants and goes after it. The Earl of Worthington doesn't have a chance.

Dawn Ireland knows how to write a historical. Her debut novel is sumptuous and layered, offering what historical romance readers want most: accurate detail, lush settings, a way to step back and experience another time, and a hero and heroine we want to cheer for.

The fighting between Declan and Alex is as fun to read as the loving is to sigh over. It's a story to savor, and read again and again.

Highly recommended! I look forward to Ms. Ireland's next book -

Author Dawn Ireland utilizes a fast pace to provide an utterly provocative read. I fell in love with the unique characters, the old world setting and the riveting plot. The protagonists, Alex and Declan, are mighty opposites, almost Shakespearian in scope and depth. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know these two headstrong and independent characters and accompanying them on their journey to happily ever after. Love's Guardian is ripe with accessible emotion delivered via sharp writing. If you love history and romance, read it! You won't be disappointed.
