Elizabethan England lives!,
By
This review is from: Love's Labyrinth (Time Passages) (Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed Anne Kelleher's latest novel. I read many historical romances and honestly feel that Ms. Kelleher has a better grasp of the history and language of the historical periods about which she writes than the other "power house" authors of historical romance. This new novel is no exception, as she takes the reader seamlessly from 1999 to 1587. The characters are real and believable and she does a superb job of sketching 16th century England for the reader. You can honestly see the countryside and hear (and smell!) London, Dover, Calais, etc. If you enjoy this book, I highly recommend her previous work "My Once and Future Love" and "The Ghost and Katie Coyle". She ahs also written a sci-fi/fantasy series that begin with "Daught of Prophecy". Enjoy! I'm already anticipating her next novel!

Exciting time travel,
This review is from: Love's Labyrinth (Time Passages) (Paperback)
In 1587, Master Christopher Warren tells Sir John Makepiece that he knows that the latter covets the land of his neighbor Lord Nicholas Talcott. Christopher provides John the opportunity to prove that Nicholas remains a Papist just like his father was and in turn gains the land. Christopher detests the Talcott family for what they did to his father. In 1999, Olivia Lindsley is obsessed with finishing her beloved but deceased father's work on proving that Lady Olivia Talcott is Shakespeare's Dark Lady. To do so, Olivia, accompanied by Alison O'Neil, has traveled to the Talcott estate. The two friends enter a maze during an eclipse. When they exit, Alison and Olivia meet Queen Elizabeth I, as it is now 1587. As a plot to destroy Nicholas begins, he falls in love with Olivia while his brother falls in love with Alison, but his enemies now have the perfect scenario to hang him: time traveling witches. LOVE'S LABYRINTH is an enchanting time travel romance that will please sub-genre fans due to the strong characterizations. The story line moves quickly as real persona from the late sixteenth century adds authenticity to the story line while propelling the plot forward. Though Olivia and Nicholas are a fine couple, Alison's struggle to adapt makes readers understand displacement. As with A ONCE AND FUTURE KING, Anne Kelleher provides an enticing tale that will enchant her audience. Harriet Klausner

Tremendously Enjoyable,
By A Customer
This review is from: Love's Labyrinth (Time Passages) (Paperback)
I loved this book. It was a great combination of romance and history. The author really did her homework in connection with the time period... and I learned a lot along the way. I enjoyed the contrast between the two women and the way their relationships evolved. One of them had a more "modern" sensibility, and the other seemed to feel very comfortable in the past. What fun! Do pick it up. I've read other books by Anne Kelleher, and she continues to get better all the time.
