4.0 out of 5 stars What a surprise!, August 12, 2003

After recently reading Catherine Palmer's SUNRISE SONG, I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy this historical as much. I was wrong! Exhibiting the height and depth of her writing talent, Ms. Palmer took me on a delightful journey through the English regency period with side stops in some of my favorite subjects--mathematics, chemistry and history.

Feisty Jane's search for proof, both of God's existence and to save her father's life, is a true picture of the thinking believer and the struggle between logic and faith. Thomas Norcross is equally intriguing hero with his own thirst for answers and adventure. This couple is a treat, as well as Ms. Palmer's storytelling.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful!!, February 15, 2006

I agree that this book shows Ms Palmer's skill as a writer. It is the story of two skeptics, two intellectuals who live in a "Christian" nation surrounded by those who attend church every Sunday ,some who truly believe but many more whose beliefs are riddled with contradictions and often no belief at all, rather just a well worn path easily taken. I am no intellectual, not into chemistry or mathmatics but I am very delighted to search for the deep spiritual truths Ms Pamer hides in every book. One part of the book I especially enjoyed was Jane and Thomas's forrey into the seedy side of London, the carnival freaks...God uses the simple to confound the wise!! This is definitely a worthwhile read!
