Love's Sweet Song

Angelica Castle Murray loses almost everything in a tragic car accident. In the aftermath of this disaster, she must not only struggle to regain her health, but to come to terms with the fact that ever since she and her former fiance Winston broke up seven years before, she has been living a lie.

Winston Murray has never stopped loving Angelica, even when she was married to his brother. Her old life is now in shambles. How can he tell her that her life with Oliver has been one big lie?

Only through Angelica determination to find meaning in her loss does she come to truly understand Winston, and recognize that she has never stopped loving him. As she copes with her grief and injuries, with Winston close by her side, she dares to hope that he might feel the same about her.

But the secrets Angelica has kept hidden from him threaten any chance they have of a happy future. Winston risks everything he owns for the sake of the woman he loves, but even giving Angelica his all, will it ever be enough?

Angelica has her own doubts about her worthiness, and how far Winston will ever be able to forgive her once he learns the truth about their past. She must trust Winston completely with her life and love at last if they are ever to have a chance of a happy future together.

Now he saw her standing on the balcony, gazing out at the Hudson River. The white snow-covered lawn was bathed with light from the full moon. The rays reflected off the fresh powder, making the room bright enough so that he could see her eyes as she turned to face him.
“You’re back, Winston.”
“So are you. Back here.”
She shook her head. “I’ve never been here, not really. The only thing I’ve ever loved about his house is this room, this view. The rest, well, it can all go. None of it matters.”
“I wanted to tell you so many times.”
“And there’s been so much for me to tell you. But not now.”
“Not now,” he echoed.
She laughed shakily, and shut the doors on the freezing wind. “We’ve left it a little late for talking, haven’t we? We’ve spoken to each other, yet the words haven’t been enough. Haven’t been the right ones.”
She stepped closer to him now, her progress slow and steady as she forced herself to move towards him, to touch him she as she had wanted to for so long. This might be her last chance. She didn’t care what he thought of her. She wanted, no, needed him.
“I’ve wanted to tell you, Angelica-”
She put her slender fingers upon his lips. “No more words, Winston. They only get in the way.”
She stretched up on tiptoe and placed her mouth upon his in the sweetest kiss he had ever experienced. Winston felt his knees turn to jelly. With a hoarse cry he swept her up into his arms and kissed her back with all the passion he had repressed for so long.
In an instant they were on the bed and naked, their clothes strewn about in every direction as they struggled to touch flesh on flesh.
“Angelica, my love....”
“No words Winston. Just touch me, let me touch you, love you.”

Reviews:
Love’s Sweet Song brings us the story of two people meant to be together but kept apart by outside circumstances. Through a series of gross misunderstandings, communication failures and manipulation on the part of others, Angelica and Winston have lost each other. She marries his brother and they appear to have the happiest of unions.
All is not as it seems, though, as Winston discovers after a tragic accident kills his brother and niece. Resilient, Angelica will turn the tragedy around to bring her true love back within reach. Winston and Angelica share a tender, touching and special love.
Unfortunately, they allow another man to come between them with lies and misunderstand each other, which leads to the disintegration of their relationship at the book’s beginning. A deeply moving novel with excellent characters. -Romantic Times

5.0 out of 5 stars A moving romance of love and loss and love again, May 11, 2009
By
This review is from: Love's Sweet Song (Kindle Edition)
Love's Sweet Song brings us the story of two people meant to be together but kept apart by the manipulation of the hero's brother, and their own feelings that they are not worthy of each other.

Angelica has always had the most luminous musical talent. Though it was Oliver the aspiring Broadway show producer she seemed to have the most in common with, it was his older brother Winston she was in love with.

Certain that Winston has tired of her, she runs away to New York, and Oliver follows. When Winston tries to find her, he gets the wrong impression, and is sure he has lost her. Hurt that Winston seems to have given up all she thought they shared, Angelica marries his brother Oliver and they appear to have the happiest of unions.

All is not as it seems, though, as Winston discovers after a tragic accident kills his brother and young niece, and nearly takes Angelica's life as well.

Angelica is forced to deal with her crushing grief over the loss of her daughter due to Oliver's carelessness. As she starts to physically recover from her injuries, she has ample time to face the truth about her marriage, the mistakes she has made, and the fact that she has never stopped loving Winston, even though she is sure he no longer feels the same way.

Winston is with her nearly every dreadful step of the way. The terrible tragedy and nearly losing Angelica as well makes Winston realize what a fool he has been. He has done nothing but help his brother Oliver get everything he wants, even if it meant sacrificing his own happiness and career.

In the aftermath of the accident, all of Oliver's secrets coming spilling out, and Winston is horrified to learn what a double life Oliver was leading.

Angelica is finally willing to face up to the secrets of the past and the fact that her whole marriage was a farce. But how can she ever win Winston's love again after all that's passed between them?

Winston and Angelica share a tender, touching and special love, truly intimate in so many ways. Oliver is a larger than life bastard who forces everyone to sacrifice for his sake when he simply isn't worth it.

Once Angelica comes to that conclusion, it is time for her to build up the courage to show Winston that she has never stopped loving him, and that out of the ashes of the old, a new life can be built.

This is a deeply moving romance with excellent characters we really feel for and engage with. Angelica has a hard road, but she moves heaven and earth in the end to be with the man she truly loves.

Winston is a superb character, a powerful yet compassionate man who sticks with Angelica throughout the stages of her life, from teen to wife, mother, and finally powerful woman in her own right, and a goddess to him because of the passionate love they share. He tries to respect her choices, even when he is bleeding inside.

These are two remarkable people who get a second chance at happiness, and grab it with both hands. The emotions and the love scenes are terrific.
