5.0 out of 5 stars A moving romance of love and loss and love again, May 11, 2009
By
This review is from: Love's Sweet Song (Kindle Edition)
Love's Sweet Song brings us the story of two people meant to be together but kept apart by the manipulation of the hero's brother, and their own feelings that they are not worthy of each other.

Angelica has always had the most luminous musical talent. Though it was Oliver the aspiring Broadway show producer she seemed to have the most in common with, it was his older brother Winston she was in love with.

Certain that Winston has tired of her, she runs away to New York, and Oliver follows. When Winston tries to find her, he gets the wrong impression, and is sure he has lost her. Hurt that Winston seems to have given up all she thought they shared, Angelica marries his brother Oliver and they appear to have the happiest of unions.

All is not as it seems, though, as Winston discovers after a tragic accident kills his brother and young niece, and nearly takes Angelica's life as well.

Angelica is forced to deal with her crushing grief over the loss of her daughter due to Oliver's carelessness. As she starts to physically recover from her injuries, she has ample time to face the truth about her marriage, the mistakes she has made, and the fact that she has never stopped loving Winston, even though she is sure he no longer feels the same way.

Winston is with her nearly every dreadful step of the way. The terrible tragedy and nearly losing Angelica as well makes Winston realize what a fool he has been. He has done nothing but help his brother Oliver get everything he wants, even if it meant sacrificing his own happiness and career.

In the aftermath of the accident, all of Oliver's secrets coming spilling out, and Winston is horrified to learn what a double life Oliver was leading.

Angelica is finally willing to face up to the secrets of the past and the fact that her whole marriage was a farce. But how can she ever win Winston's love again after all that's passed between them?

Winston and Angelica share a tender, touching and special love, truly intimate in so many ways. Oliver is a larger than life bastard who forces everyone to sacrifice for his sake when he simply isn't worth it.

Once Angelica comes to that conclusion, it is time for her to build up the courage to show Winston that she has never stopped loving him, and that out of the ashes of the old, a new life can be built.

This is a deeply moving romance with excellent characters we really feel for and engage with. Angelica has a hard road, but she moves heaven and earth in the end to be with the man she truly loves.

Winston is a superb character, a powerful yet compassionate man who sticks with Angelica throughout the stages of her life, from teen to wife, mother, and finally powerful woman in her own right, and a goddess to him because of the passionate love they share. He tries to respect her choices, even when he is bleeding inside.

These are two remarkable people who get a second chance at happiness, and grab it with both hands. The emotions and the love scenes are terrific.
