5.0 out of 5 stars I had a hard time finding this CD
When you listen to the smooth Jazz stations they never say the name of the song. Thank goodness for the Sacramento KINGS...that was the only way I found the CD. The DJ dedicated the CD to them! I went and got it and BOY Kings was not the only cut that mesmerized me. The entired CD takes me on a airy trip into a pleasure zone. And just when you think you're about to leave,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Inventive keyboard player wtih a flare for romantic sounds
Kevin Toney's "Lovescape" is a predictable album if you've heard any of his pieces on radio. "Aphrodisiac" seems to be the most popular track on the album featuring synth backgrounding and colorful piano chording in front with occasional single note riffs. The tempo of the song is it's key element being very relaxed and a bit heavy. I wouldn't...

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good....., August 23, 2005
This review is from: Lovescape (Audio CD)
Like many others, I primarily purchased this CD for the Kings track (it took me years to find the name of it.......eat your heart out Weather Channel!). After listening to the entire CD a few times, I found it be pretty good. The drum programming makes a few of the tracks blend together, but all in all definitely a good buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Most relaxing after a long day's work., October 20, 1999

As an active member of the US Air Force Reserves, I was in San Antonio, Texas for a temporary assignment. As fate would have it, in route to my quarters there played this tune that was later identified as Aphrodisiac, by Kevin Toney. After purchasing the CD, I was left speechless with it's depth and unique organization. It was truly well worth the price. Continued success to Mr. Toney.

4.0 out of 5 stars Admire The Scenic Splendor Of The Lovescape, December 12, 1999
This review is from: Lovescape (Audio CD)
On "Lovescape", I really only care for "Kings," "Aphrodisiac," "Sweet Whispers," & "African Knights." "Aphrodisiac" is the most intriguing track on the entire album. It's gives the air of slow dance or a secluded dinner-for-two. Kings becomes a little repetitive, but it was the the track that introduced me to Toney's music. "Sweet Whispers" has a catchy melody like "Aphrodisiac," but it's more mellow. And "African Knights" emphasizes beat and primal noises. All 'n all, these particular songs are solid. I can't really remember the other ones, but for "Aphrodisiac" alone, this album should be in your collection.

"Aphrodisiac" seems to be the most popular track on the album featuring synth backgrounding and colorful piano chording in front with occasional single note riffs. The tempo of the song is it's key element being very relaxed and a bit heavy. I wouldn't call it sensuous but it is very romantic sounding like what you'd play for you and a love at a private dinner. The style matches almost all the rest of the material on the album which is why I call it predictable but each song has it's own unique melody.

4.0 out of 5 stars This cd is relaxing., October 17, 1999

This cd creates a feeling of floating in the sky. It makes you feel like you are sailing over the ocean and the water is clear blue, a frozen drink in your hand, and a the woman you love by your side. I did not get to hear all of the samples so I don't know how the rest of the cd is, but from what I 've heard it is worth picking up if you are a person who allows their mind to wander.
