4.0 out of 5 stars Lovesick Is Good For the Soul, July 28, 2003

I'll be frank. Celebrity is a godsend. Every so often, a band comes around whose music utterly moves me. During the summer of 2003, that band was Celebrity. From the soaring guitars, to the beautiful vocals, to the heartfelt lyrics, Celebrity proves they are a very talented band. This CD is about as flawless as a debut can be. There are only two problems with it:

1) They do remind you of the Cure, My Bloody Valentine, and even a bit like Failure. But on the bright side, they don't steal from those bands, but just show that they are students of those bands.

2) It's just too short. 10 songs in about 37 minutes. Give us a 12 song/45 minute long album next time, guys.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great to see this band starting to do something big, May 26, 2003

I've met these guys in Nashville (thier hometown, where i go to school) and they're good. I try to never miss them when they play here. This disc is highly enjoyable. Shows maturity from the Sle.EP, and the production is much better (which will really allow a band like this to shine). I also love the addition of ryan from Hopesfall. He adds alot, both musically and in the live performance. If you're into the dark 80's pop of Depche Mode or the Church, and the like, i think you'd really enjoy this album (not to say that its only an 80s rip off. they're definetly still rocking something new).

This band is amazing in every way. The haunting melodies, the "lovesick" vocals, and the beautifully crafted music make this cd a must buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't label them as emo! Celebrity is a rock band!!!, June 30, 2003

This is Celebrity's first full-length record after releasing their debut EP in 2002. Lovesick definitely shows that Celebrity has improved in all aspects since their EP and it really showcases the raw talent of this band. There are hundreds of bands that call Nashville, TN their home, but Celebrity shines brighter than them all. Their music combines the styles of Sunny Day Real Estate, Quicksand and Depeche Mode with their own licks to create truly amazing music. If you like any of those bands from the previous sentence or want to discover the next great rock band, then buy Lovesick! Also, the other reviewer is mistaken about one thing - Ryan was the ex-member of Hopesfall that joined Celebrity, not Matt.
