Book Description

April 30, 2006
Beth Morgan has never met a man she couldn't love. All her life the Wisconsin beauty has been happily surrounded by beaus. It isn't until she starts down the aisle that she realizes it's the attention she loves and not the actual men. So, Beth does what any self respecting socialite would do. She turns on her heel and runs.

Quaid Blair does his friend, Robert Morgan, a big favor and hunts down the runaway bride. He drags the spoiled willful girl home, dumping her ruined wedding dress and all in her father's study.

Beth knows in that moment there is one man she will never love and his name is Quaid Blair. But that's the least of her worries. Currently her fiancé and his family are waiting for her in the parlor along with the entire town of Boltonville. Humiliated, she has to get out of town now, even if it means going all the way to Wyoming with none other than Quaid Blair.

Quaid agrees to take the spoiled vixen to her brother in Wyoming. He figures it will take one maybe two days on the trail before Beth Morgan caves to the hardship of pioneering and demands to be taken back home. The trip becomes a battle of wills and Quaid learns there is more grit to this stubborn woman than he first thought. Admiration turns to love, but once back in civilization, will this fickle woman go back to gathering beaus?

Beth comes to understand the difference between infatuation and true love. But Quaid has seen her at her worst. How could any man forget the spoiled girl she once was?

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

*Starred Review* Beth Morgan doesn't need to be told that she is the prettiest woman in Boltonville, Wisconsin--she already knows it. As she walks down the aisle to marry Eric Slausser, visions of herself bloated, pregnant, and not-so-beautiful come to mind, and she bolts. She decides to go stay with her brother in Wyoming. Her father agrees with her plan but insists that she travel with the man he trusts more than anyone else in the world, grudgingly wealthy Quaid Blair. Quaid is taking his prize horses up the trail and is extremely reluctant to take the spoiled beauty with him. He vows to himself that he'll make the journey so difficult, Beth will give up. Surprisingly, Beth's fragile, feminine looks belie a strong, determined, capable woman. Thrilled to finally be with a man who doesn't treat her like fine porcelain, Beth rises to every challenge. In the third book in the Morgan Family Romance series (The Marryin' Kind, 2005; The Bettin' Kind, 2005), Parra continues to create marvelously gutsy heroines--complex characters who aren't what the rest of the world thinks they are. More About the Author

Nancy J. Parra's love of story started early. Enthralled with Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House books, she tried to talk her 5th grade best friend into writing a pioneer book with her. When that didn't work out, she wrote stories on her own, but soon discovered her short stories were growing longer and longer. She wrote her first full length novel before she was 21. In an attempt to be practical, she got a BS in Journalism, but discovered it was more fun to interview the people in her head and returned to writing novels on the side. Nancy sold her first novel in 2002, and is always writing something new.
With an MA in Writing Popular Fiction, Ms. Parra has written articles on writing, and has given workshops on writing techniques to various library and writers groups. She writes a weekly blog on the art and craft of writing, www.nancyjparra.blogspot.com. Visit her website at www.nancyjparra.com for more information, a list of her books and full reviews. She can also be found at www.facebook.com/nancyjparra and would love to add you as her friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book, September 24, 2006
This review is from: The Lovin' Kind: A Morgan Family Romance (Hardcover)
Beth was beautiful. It was a plain and simple fact. But not many people understood that a gutsy woman was beneath the beauty. It takes Quaid several weeks to find that out.

A wonderful book that keeps you on edge. It's no surprise it was one of Booklist's top ten romances for 2006. It was a delight to read.
