Book Description

April 2003

A James Bond-meets-Austin Powers spoof about the gadget maker for a crime-fighting organization run by women. Jane Spyrus likes nothing more than devising new inventions, but even she knows her shrink-wrap prophylactic constraints, spray-on truth serum and her other...rather innovative creations won't help save her kidnapped neighbor from the evil Ensecksi family.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Comic and campy, this James Bond-meets-Austin Powers spoof from Sands (The Key, etc.) is the third in Love Spell's series of romances involving B.L.I.S.S., a crime-fighting organization run almost entirely by women. Gadget girl Jane Spyrus works in B.L.I.S.S.'s Creation and Development department, inventing such oddities as shrink wrap condoms and mini-missile launchers shaped like vibrators. Though trained in the martial arts, Jane, a techno-geek at heart, has never had a chance to put her skills to use. But when her friend Edie Andretti is kidnapped by a family bent on world domination, Jane and her zany, ex-secret agent grandmother jump into action. Edie's dashing brother, Abel, rounds out the team and strikes up a steamy, often side-splitting romance with Jane. Armed with knock-out lipstick, dart-shooting shoes and truth-serum perfume, the intrepid trio attempt to stop the villainous Ensecksi family from inflicting their mind control technology upon the world. Jane is no Bond: she stumbles rather than strides and can't lie to save her life. But as the adventure unfolds, she believably turns her shy, size 12 self into a seductive super spy. Abel and Jane complement each other nicely, and together they bring some sanity to this madcap escapade.

5.0 out of 5 stars OH HOW I LAUGHED, April 12, 2003

this book is right up my alley, i love contemporary romance books. this book went even further than just plain romance and threw in some action/adventure too. you will not be bored, yellow dresses and hawaiian shirts, midgets and truth serum, knock out lipstick and feminine hygiene tracking devices abound. read the story to find out all about it.

Coming from a home, whose male occupants know all the James Bond movies by heart, I enjoyed a laugh riot with this novel. There was so many tongue in cheek comedy through this entire book I could hardly put it down.

Jane (female James) Spyrus (come on, who are you fooling) is lighthearted, goofy, unaware, and intelligent. The many men in her life are sexy, dangerous, and intriging. With Knockout Lipstick, laser shooting braclets, truth serium perfume, tracking tampons (no I am not making this up--Sands is), and Vibrator mini launchers, nothing will stop her from stopping the bad guys and saving the world.

God, I'm laughing just thinking about it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Howlathon!, April 21, 2003
This review is from: The Loving Daylights (Mass Market Paperback)
Lynsay Sands rocks with this zanny paraody of the Bond books. I cannot recall when I Have laughed so hard. Her tale leaves an open door for more Jane Spyrus tales and I, for one, will be in line waiting!

Lynsay Sands always makes people laugh, a rare gift, but this one was just so funny from start to finish.

A good way to shake off the post Winter blues!
