Book Description

SEMI-FINALIST IN THE 2014 BEST KINDLE BOOK AWARDS!!
What would you do if your perfect life was shattered by a series of uncontrollable events?
Allison Ransome loses everything; everything except her love for Cole Slater, the young man she planned to marry after graduation.
Gutted by Allison's perceived treachery, Cole moves on with his life. Ten years later, he returns home, telling himself he will avoid the woman who broke his heart.
But nothing goes as planned. Can Allison and Cole forget the past and come to terms with the events that tore them apart?
Loving From Afar is Book One in The Women of Independence series, and is Allison's story. Book Two is titled The Last Goodbye, and is Danielle's story. Book Three is titled Never Look Back, and is mainly Maya's story, with a wrap-up of all the characters of the series you've come to love.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"How do you repair the seemingly unrepairable? That really is the basis of this book. The tragedies of life encroach on these characters in such a way that you, along with them just can't seem to find a way out of the path that each of them has taken by choice or by circumstance. This book is at times gut wrenching and heart breaking but it is also life and love affirming. So how do you repair the seemingly unrepairable? Read this book and find out."

"This book wasn't like any other romance I've read. It grabbed my interest from the beginning and then took me on an emotional ride that kept drawing me back to the story when I really should have been doing other things! Some tough emotional parts, but I liked that... it was an honest story, told from the heart. Looking forward to the next story in the series."

"I recommend any book this Author has out and any future story she will share with us in the future. She truly has a gift."
- Sharing a Bit of Romance blog

"This book held my attention from start to finish - really didn't want it to end. The plot in this story has everything a reader of romance novels could want and more. Ms. Ingram seems to have an amazing talent for making her characters come alive and the events she portrays have the reader believing that this could really happen. Thanks for a wonderful book."

From the Author

Loving From Afar is Book One in The Women of Independence series. I've created the fictional small town of Independence from my fond memories of all the small towns I've visited in British Columbia. The setting is the Okanagan Valley, an area I know well. It's a beautiful area with a long history of fruit growing, and is unmarred by any large industry. A perfect backdrop for this love story that will break your heart, then put it back together.

Excellent book with all the trials and tribulations of young romance. The two sisters and their friend struggle thru some trying times. Heart wrenching at times in all three relation ships. Love wins out in the end. Its a good read for any adult.

There is another 2 star review that was posted after I downloaded/read this title that says much of what I want to say. Spoilers kind of follow- after the misunderstanding between the main couple occurs he eventually ends up having an eleven year relationship with a woman that is only physical (it doesn't go into details of what is happening in the bedroom, only that it is frequent and very stimulating). Even though he is annoyed by this woman's opinion of his life's work he still sleeps with her and only stops when he sees the girl he loved long ago. By that time I didn't really like him that much and then the end wraps up way to quickly, he is sleeping with one woman and then in a few weeks time he is telling another that he still loves her. At the beginning of the book he had wanted sex to be a special thing so I don't see how these different attitudes jive. If there had been more development between the main characters before he expressed his renewed love maybe I could have got over it but just because he slept with one woman continually over eleven years does not make him virtuous. I thought the description of the main girl's feelings and interactions of people following her rape were compelling and heart wrenching.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love Glows On August 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
The love and support of family is loud and clear. Suddenly losing their parents and having to take care of each other, they move to a different town, just hours away from where they grew up.

Life is filled with joy as well as horror. While one sister is going through a troubled marriage, the other sister is date raped. What follows is extraordinary. How the sisters take care of each other and how the baby stays in the family and then actually helps her birth mother with her love life, makes one's heart warm.

Life is filled with warm moments. Some of these moments I won't tell you about. They are in the book.

Pick up a copy of "Loving From Afar" and enjoy the simple beauties in life. The simple treasures. You'll never look at a wooden toy the same.

Love from Afar gives you a bucket full of emotions. From the sweetness of young /true love to the heart crushing betrayal from that love to the devastation of knowing there is no one to turn to. Cole and Allison thought they only had memories. Read the book. You will not be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uplifting September 30, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I received this book in exchange for a review. I loved how the author didn't run the usual course with the characters. The book ran more as real life runs...ups and downs...good and bad. It was nice to have a subtle emphasis on the importance of family and friends. I look forward to reading more of Mona Ingram's books in the future.
