5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Read for Christians
This book is written for women, but I am just one of many men who have benefited greatly from Elizabeth George's fantastic first work, Loving God With All Your Mind.

In her own gentle way, Elizabeth takes us on a journey through her own personal struggle with depression. Unlike most self-help bestsellers, George isnt' content to leave the reader depressed just like she...

1.0 out of 5 stars Terribly Disturbing and Misleading to God's Truth
Please use extreme discernment and wisdom in reading this book. It comes from an extreme Calvanistic point of view and although there are many good lessons to be learned from the studied scriptures, they are primarily based from a wrong foundation and on OPINION. If you are one who practices calvanism, then this is the book for you but from a Christian foundational...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Read for Christians, August 27, 2002
This review is from: Loving God with All Your Mind (Paperback)
This book is written for women, but I am just one of many men who have benefited greatly from Elizabeth George's fantastic first work, Loving God With All Your Mind.

In her own gentle way, Elizabeth takes us on a journey through her own personal struggle with depression. Unlike most self-help bestsellers, George isnt' content to leave the reader depressed just like she wasn't content to say depressed herself. Instead, she takes us on the same journey through Scripture to find lasting, life-changing answers.

It wasn't until I read Loving God With All Your Mind that I realize how much control we have over our mind. We don't have to be besieged by worry and fear. We don't have to live in bondage to the opinions of others. We don't have to operate in a bubble of our own self-consciousness. Christians can rise above this by yielding their minds to the Holy Spirit.

If you never read any other Christian book, read Elizabeth George's excellent classic, Loving God With All Your Mind. Make a permanent place for it on your nightstand.

5.0 out of 5 stars In the Midst of a Storm, August 14, 2000
By
This review is from: Loving God with All Your Mind (Paperback)
It wasn't until I came upon a trying situation that I started to read this book that I had for 3 years. It has changed my attitude during my VERY difficult situation. Let me share with you an excerpt that has meant so much: "There is nothing--no circumstance, no trouble, no testing--that can ever touch me until, first of all it has gone past God and past Christ, right through to me. If it has come this far, it has come with a great purpose, which I may not understand at the moment. But as I refuse to become panicky, as I lift up my eyes to Him and accept it as coming from the throne of God for some great purpose of blessing to my own heart, no sorrow will ever disturb me, no trial will ever disarm me, no circumstance will cause me to fret--for I shall rest in the joy of what my Lord is--That is the rest of victory." No matter what I'm facing, I know that if I continue in His will, I will only come out a winner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scripture based on how to love God with all your mind., August 22, 1998
By
This review is from: Loving God with All Your Mind (Paperback)
This is an excellent book for all women who want to really love God with all their mind and know they should. Gives 6 scriptures as guidelines on how to do this. Learn how to train your thoughts to make them obedient to God, overcome worry and fear, how to deal with friendships, and a whole lot more all while learning how to love God with all your mind. No worldly psychology here. This is all scripturally based. For all Christian women whether you are just starting out or have been a believer for many years. Excellent!

4.0 out of 5 stars Made me think all over again..., September 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Loving God with All Your Mind (Paperback)
I have read this book twice... and each time have walked away with something new to focus on. When I say it "made me think all over again", it's because Mrs George stirred up some things in my life that had been out of focus or mis-prioritized. The section on "thinking on true things" (Phil 4:8) has stuck with me and I share it with others often. I look forward to reading more of her!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't read this book unless you want to grow closer to God., September 20, 1999

This review is from: Loving God with All Your Mind (Paperback)
This book was so wonderful in taking the truths of God's word and expanding them and applying them. I recommend this book to any Christian woman that wants there relationship with God stregthened. Elizabeth George uses the experience and tools the God has given her to help other ladies walk with the Spirit by having a good and positive thought life. It was an easy read, and one of those books you want to start all over and read again because you are afraid you might have missed something.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life-Changing Book, December 15, 2002
By
This review is from: Loving God with All Your Mind (Paperback)
I've spent a lot of my life being held captive by Giant Despair. This book brought me hope, help, and refreshment.

If you have ever struggled with the "If only" of the past, the "What if" of the future, or the "It wasn't supposed to be like this!" of the present, you will enjoy this book.

A great book just to read, or to use as a Bible study. Elizabeth George writes beautifully to women of the Christian faith. This book, when used with the study guide in the back, is one that really helps women to know how to love God in all circumstances, and how to rely on him through the day to day. Nothing short of spectacular.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book I've read so far on this topic for women, August 2, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Loving God with All Your Mind (Paperback)
Elizabeth George has done an outstanding job on this topic. She covers a range of issues/challenges that face women daily. I can admit to putting what she recommended to practice and I'm seeing the fruits. The chapter on 'Accepting the unacceptable', I believe should be preached from more pulpits - the theology of suffering has not been addressed in the church lately (probably cos' it's been replaced by the health & wealth gospel).

This book is a wake-up call to all christian women, it's for those who want a reality check with no frills added on how to face life's challenges as a christian woman in a way that glorifies God.

5.0 out of 5 stars Renew your life by thinking God's way., July 14, 2005
My friends and I are doing a study together using the book
Loving God With All Your Mind by Elizabeth George.
There are chapters that you say to yourself, "oh, that would really help to line up my thinking with what God says ...and then there are times that you get frustrated because you see that there is so much to work on.
The main theme is thinking on what is true and real. This comes from Phillipians 4:8. When you come right down to it...thinking the proper way helps your own peace of mind and your relationships.

We are thoroughly enjoying this study.

Elizabeth shares in this book how she struggled with depression and how she overcame it with God's word.

It's worth reading and using the study guide.

5.0 out of 5 stars hope for the hopeless, August 8, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I read this book when I was in a terrible physical crisis. The author's indepth study of applying scripture to real life helped me to renew my mind. I was able to cope with my physical problem but best of all my spiritual life was energized and I understood God in a deeper way. A must read!
