What was a man to do when he came home and found a strange woman in his hot tub wearing nothing but exotic jewelry? If he was conservative architect Nathon Powell, he suggested she get dressed and tried not to notice that Jackie M. MacNamara was the most alluring female he'd ever seen. To "Jack" life was one mad glorious adventure. And when the dashing hero of her romantic fiction suddenly materialized before her very eyes, she knew she'd found her greatest thrill. Falling for the adorable Nathen was the easy part. The challenge would be to make sure that, come tomorrow, he was loving Jack right back!

Absolutely adorable book with a feisty heroine that just won't quit! The next review down gives an excerpt from the back of the book; I just wanted to add that Cody Johnson, who is Nathan's business partner in this book, gets a book of his own in "Best Laid Plans". Jack and Nathan come to visit Cody in that book, so if you enjoyed this one, read that too. Also, the book that Jack is writing here is Nora Roberts own book, "Lawless", so you may want to check that one out as well.

This is another one of Nora Roberts's earlier books and if compared to her writing style of today, you can see she's come a long way. It is still better than many authors of today and is enjoyable so don't count it out just yet.

This tale is a bit on the far-fetched side in my opinion. Nathan Powell, an architect who travels the world to see his buildings come to fruition, comes home after such a journey to find a woman in his hot tub. Jackie MacNamara (lovingly know as Jack) has always wanted to write and her cousin talks her into subletting a house while she works. As Jack's in the hot tub dreaming of the next scene with her main male character (the man of her dreams) he materializes before her. Come to find out that this house Jack has sublet is actually owned by Nathan Powell and her sleazy cousin had no right to sublet it to her - he was only trying to make a fast buck. Now she's out the money and has no place to go. Nathan lets her stay for a short while and then the fireworks between them begin. Most can guess the remainder of the story even if you've never read any romance novels before.

The character development is not as wonderful as we've come to expect from this author, but Roberts does a fair job as we do get an idea and rough mental picture of Nathan and Jack and what makes them tick. The story development is very predictable and has very few deviations from the standard cookie-cutter romance theme. The most intriguing part is the title of this book - since Jack has fallen in love with Nathan, she's determined to get him to fall in love with her. It's an interesting twist of words.

The book is not mind-boggling and a quick read. You could probably finish it in an afternoon.

Loving Jack, Jack Series #1 by nora roberts
Jackie MacNamara has just given her swindling cousin Fred money for 3 months at this house. It's just spring and she's able to write on her new typewriter.
Problem is the owner Nathan Powell, architect, is back home from Germany and he's in his own house. The same one that Jackie is staying at.
She is quite educated by going to many college and universities over the years and dabbling in a bit of every occupation available.
She tries to persuade him to let her stay with her cooking.
She is very good at changing subjects and trying to get her way. They finally come to an agreement, he gets his room back, she cooks and stays out of his way.
After he had told one of her relatives there was a mixup and they were both in the house, Jack informed him she's making wedding plans for them.
He attempts to work on his work items and she wants to spend time with him. They've touched each other and she's now writing about how he feels in her book that she's writing.
She needs to keep touching, kissing him so she can finish her book. She never finishes any of the career she's started.
She's opened her past to him then tells him she loves him. He has no response, then and a female calls and she knows he has other interests.
Hot steamy sex and intelligent conversation make this a really good read.
Love the adventures and trips to unknown places she took him to.

I have numerous books of N Roberts and, while not her best one, it was a nice read. Again, I am never comparing this type of novels to, Tolstoy or O'Henry, so I always try to keep it in perspective. As romance novels go, this one is a very cute story, at times warm, mostly sensual and provocative, sometimes not very believable fantasy.
When you are in the mood for this sort of entertainment, like for example, on a beach, or during a long plain ride, or a rainy weekend, this book is perfect.
Plus, I liked the idea of an independant, complicated, talented heroine having a strong mind and deciding, for a change, to take charge and go after the man she wants; its sweet. As I mentioned, this is a 2-book story of two friends- here the first guy gets his love-match; in the second novel, though, "Best Laid Plans", the other friend will be written slightly better, with a just more depth and a bit better story. Personally, I liked the second one a smidge more, anyway. But do read this one first, as they come in sequence.
