Book Description

Kieran Kramer

In the House of Brady, three very lovely girls have hair of gold—and hearts to match—but finding a match among the gentlemen of London is one comedy of errors that could bring down the house…

Of the three Brady sisters, Lady Marcia has always seemed the girl most likely to lead a perfectly charmed life. But after a handsome cad breaks her heart, she swears off love and devotes her life to teaching girls at a private school. In spite of her family’s wish for a London debut, Marcia is happy where she is—until terrible news sends her back to the Brady clan…and into the arms of an unexpected suitor.

A dark and dashing earl who knows Marcia’s past, Duncan Lattimore is surprised by what a fascinating and independent woman she’s become. Marcia, too, is surprised—by the fiery attraction she feels for Duncan. But why—why—must he be the brother of the scoundrel who broke her heart? Why must Marcia’s rival at school forbid her from seeing him? How can this lady possibly resist this fellow—when they know that it’s much more than a hunch…?

“A delicious romp that will keep you laughing.”

—Sabrina Jeffries (on Kieran Kramer’s Impossible Bachelor series)

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

For Marcia Sherwood, one of three sisters in the House of Brady, marriage is not an option. Four years ago, while traveling to a wedding in Dublin, Marcia fell in love with Finnian Lattimore. Marcia thought they would spend the rest of their lives together until Finn’s older brother, Duncan, Lord Chadwick, sent Finn away to America. Unfortunately, before they were separated, Marcia and Finn had already “celebrated” their love. Fortunately for Marcia, she has found a new calling as the headmistress of Oak Hall. But her comfortable life is turned upside down when the school’s current benefactress (a jealous former schoolmate) has Marcia dismissed. While mapping out her future at the Brady townhouse in London, Marcia unexpectedly runs into another roadblock on the road to happy spinsterhood in the form of Duncan Lattimore. Fans of the TV sitcom The Brady Bunch will be amazed at how cleverly and unexpectedly Kramer improvises on the show in her latest incandescently witty, completely captivating Regency historical. --John Charles

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Marcia, Marcia, Marcia August 28, 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback
As a kid, I would stay up late watching TV, especially on Nickelodeon which would turn into Nick at Night. This is where I got my first glimpse of The Brady Bunch. I can still hear the opening of theme song. With that all said, I'm so excited that Kieran Kramer has paid homage to an iconic TV family and wrote a regency version of the Brady Bunch.

So, let's meet the first book in Kieran's new series The House of Brady, Loving Lady Marcia:

Lady Marcia Sherwood is perfect in every way. Even perfect girls make mistakes, but hers cost her virtue. With that kind of price Marcia decides to forgo her season and become a teacher at the school she has been attending.

Duncan Lattimore, the Earl of Chadwick, tries so hard to fix the world's problem or at least his brother's screw ups. Especially, when he finds out what he done to Marcia all those years ago. Now he's trying to rectify the situation, but Marcia wants nothing to do with him. Why would she when she believes Duncan is the reason his brother left her? Funny how life is not what it seems.

Don't you love when a hero tries to take on the world and make it a better place? If you do, you will love Duncan Lattimore. He's the perfect hero and possible the perfect match for Marcia.

For all those who loved the The Brady Bunch growing up, you are going to love Kieran's new series The House of Brady. And if you are like me, you will notice some bits and pieces from the show modify to fit the regency period.

Just to let you know, I LOVED this book and I'm super excited to see more from The House of Brady. Loving Lady Marcia is a fun and animated read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Read! August 30, 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I usually don't read Historical Romance, but this book sounded like it had potential. Was I right? YES. I really enjoyed Loving Lady Marcia. The characters were very likable and real. And I really got a kick out of it, when I finally realized The Brady Bunch was the "back story" for this book. When we first meet Marcia, she is young and dislikes Duncan, who is your stodgy Earl. She quickly falls for his brother, Finn who breaks her heart and blames it on Duncan. Fast forward years later when Duncan sees her and is instantly smitten with the lady she has become. She still harbors ill feelings for Duncan believing he is the reason Finn left her. I don't want to give too much away. Want to find out what happens? Grab a copy and get to reading, you won't regret it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loving Lady Marcia September 3, 2012
By Kathy
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
Loving Lady Marcia is a delightful read. Kieran has done a great job at integrating tidbits from The Brady Bunch into a regency romance including Alice, Tiger (the Brady dog) and a nose injury for Marcia. Kieran makes reading a joy and gives us lessons along the way including acceptance and challenging the status quo. I can't wait for the next installment in the House of Brady series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute start to what looks to be a fun series August 28, 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I really enjoyed this book. I thought that it was a cute read and I really liked the characters. Though while I did enjoy it, the similarities to the actual Brady Bunch show were a bit much at times. Instead of enjoying the nods to the iconic show, I just found it to be too much. Similarities to the show aside, I really liked the characters and the world that the author created. I liked that she took a different approach the both the hero and heroine. Both characters had depth and I liked the chemistry between them.

When Lady Marcia was sixteen she thought herself in love and gave her heart along with her virginity to the man she thought she was to marry, Finn Lattimore. Then just as quickly as she fell in love, Finn was gone. Sent to America by his overbearing older brother Lord Chadwick. Marcia has never gotten over the loss and despite her families wishes that she wed, she has spent her time at a girl's boarding school working as a head mistress. She knows that she can never wed and if anyone were to find out her secret, not only would she be ruined, but so would her family. While out on an errand for the school, Marcia runs into the man who ruined all of her dreams, Duncan Lattimore, Lord Chadwick. Marcia has never been able to forget or forgive Duncan for sending away Finn. It's because of Duncan that she wasn't able to wed Finn and she wants nothing to do with him

Duncan can hardly believe the woman Lady Marcia has turned into. Gone is the overly sweet and happy child he met four years ago. Now before him is a beautifully independent woman and Duncan finds himself fascinated with her. So much so that he chases her down the street just to talk with her. After their encounter, Duncan can't get Lady Marcia out of his head.

1.0 out of 5 stars Seriously! The Brady Bunch? January 20, 2013
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
First of all, I want to say how much I have enjoyed this author's other books. "If You Give a Girl a Viscount," "When Harry Met Molly" and "Cloudy with a chance for Marriage" were witty delightful novels. They were so much so that I bought this book without examining it too closely. Big mistake. I thought Marcia Brady's character on the Brady Bunch to be so irritating that finding out she was the inspiration for a heroine in one of my romances is a lot like finding a snake in your cookie jar. Writer's are inspired by many things. Not all of it is productive and some of it is downright wrong! Toby Keith writing a song called "I love this bar" for instance.
I suppose I should mention that I hated the Brady Bunch. I found it silly, trite, and I didn't like any of the characters. The fact that she is trying to write a series, (Oh dear Lord, there will be more!) based on this show is without a doubt the worst idea ever designed for a romance novel.
If you were a die hard Brady Bunch fan, maybe you will like it and find it cute but I can't recommend it to anyone else. Since I had paid my good money for the book, I decided to give it a chance. I could not get beyond the first chapter. Marcia, Marcia Marcia is still just as irritating, spoiled and ridiculous, and I don't want to hear her whine about her sore nose. Save your money on this one. Unfortunately for me, I've wasted mine.

This regency had an almost contemporary romance feel, not that that is a bad thing. I like when sub-genres get mixed around. It keeps the reading experience fresh. Read more
