Book Description

June 1, 2000
When your number is up (that big six followed by an even bigger zero), your back may ache, your breath may be a trifle short, but it's what you think about that makes the real difference. Not simply a standard self-help treatise, this text examines what it means mentally and emotionally to live over the age of sixty. Drawing insight from many sages, writers, poets, song lyricists and philosophers as diverse as Aristotle and Bob Dylan, Tom Paugh poignantly (and often humorously) examines the way we think and re-think the questions of life, death, love, happiness, sex, friendship wisdom and sorrow. Using his own life experiences, friends and family as examples for what makes up a life, the author finds the universality that connects us all as we face the inevitable joys and sorrows of growing older.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Wait For Age 60 To Read This Book!, July 13, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Loving Life After 60 : Celebrating the Autumn of Your Life (Paperback)
This book is a 'must' read for everyone over age 30. Although it's not his target audience, Tom Paugh gives the younger generation an important perspective regarding the obstacles and challenges facing their parents generation that is simply not available in any other medium. In addition, there are many lessons of life to be learned that can make living the 30's, 40's and 50's much more meaningful and complete. Read this book slowly...a chapter a day. Discuss its contents with your spouse, a neighbor, and/or a friend. This book will touch your heart and will challenge you to consider ways to prepare for the days and years ahead. Don't wait for 60...read it now!

5.0 out of 5 stars How did Tom know all that about me?, November 23, 2000

Dr. Jerry C. Grubbs (Anderson, Indiana USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Loving Life After 60 : Celebrating the Autumn of Your Life (Paperback)
I have just completed reading of LOVING LIFE AFTER SIXTY: CELEBRATING THE AUTUMN OFYOUR LIFE. My wife gave it to me on the occasion of my 60th birthday. I thought, Oh no, not another book...and set it aside for a couple of months. Bad mistake. When I did pick it up, I found it difficult to put down. I was particularly drawn to the way Tom Paugh reminded the reader that there is really little new under the sun. By mixing the wisdom of the ages, from a rich variety of sources, with his own reflections and wisdom about life, he connects the reader with both the past and the present. Although the topics he has chosen to write about are obvious to anyone over 60, he writes about each of these in a delightful, conversational and narrative manner. His "letters never sent" are worth the price of the book. I keep asking myself, "How did Tom know all that about me?" A host of my post-60 friends can expect a copy of this stirring little book from me for Christmas 2000.
